things that have happened since we last talked:
- i turned 24 (mid-twenties ahhhh!!!!!)
- ate at Friendly's
- added 3 new movies to my library: whale rider, the girl next door, rushmore
*quick story about Rushmore: i got the super nice Criterion Collection version for christmas many years ago. almost immediately lost my copy and have never found it again. went on to amazon to look for it, found out that they are no longer making copies of this version and the ones that exist are like, $40. so, i just bought the normal version until i can wrap my head around spending $40 for a movie.*
- drove through EVERY KIND of bad weather possible including, blizzard, sleet, pouring rain, 70mph winds, fallen trees, roads flooded and lightening ALL in one three hour span. luckily i was with kara.
- watched Post Grad starring Alexis Bledel. great. so, so great. how did her hair look so perfect all the time!?
- saw Shutter Island. it was alright. i figured out pretty much the whole story from seeing the trailer, then i read the book and i was right. thought the movie was good. well-made in terms of filmmaking, i thought. MARTY. LEO. THELMA. wasn't a very scary movie. just some really emotional, disturbing scenes.
- LEO = SUPER HOTTIE.
and now i'm about to go to bed. i'm tired. my mom is here. she's sleeping already. it's 1:40am. i'm tired. we're going to Jake's in the morning for coffee and a treat. i'm very excited about this because i love Jake's coffee place.
ALSO, i have to post a picture of my new chair that i bought on craigslist. it's lime green. and awesome. and i'm sitting in it NOW. i loooooove it.
ok. i'm pretty tired and i'm going to go to bed. have a great sunday!
sunday = funday! never forget that.
talk to you all later!!!!

ten million fireflies lit up the world as i fell asleep
just finished watching Body Heat. kathleen turner and william hurt. both hotties!!! ted danson was there too. and mickey rourke!
really good movie. thriller! twist ending that i wasn't expecting. it was like, alfonso cuaron's Great Expectations mixed with Wild Things. (florida mixed with hott, sexy and murder)
good movie. i gave it four stars.
nothing much else happened today. when i left you last, i believe i was going to go watch an episode of The O.C. that's right, and i told you that Marissa had just tried to kill herself on painkillers and tequila. in Tijuana a.k.a. "TJ."
well in this episode, her mother tried to send her away to a mental hospital in San Diego! no way! and then her mother threatened to get full custody of Marissa and her sister Katelyn. she's divorcing her husband Jimmy because he has his own investment company and ended up stealing four million dollars from his clients.
Marissa's mom is named Julie. i KNEW there was someone named Julie on the show. unfortunately, it has to be the evil gold-digger trophy wife. ah well.
so much has happened in eight episodes. i can't believe it. and now the school year is starting so i can imagine things will only get crazier.
it's about 1:49am east coast time. just sitting here on my couch listening to some Crash Kings. man, i really like them a lot. have i told you this? great band. Tony has a super great singing voice. i love '14 Arms.'
tuesday night i have to do some cleaning up around here. it's not that messy. just like, straightening, really. Kara is coming up tuesday night! it should be fun, i hope.
i thought about taking down my Christmas decorations today. putting away my little silver tree with the lime green ornaments that Maria gave me. but then i thought, "no, i don't want to." and so i didn't. why should i have to? because it's almost March? okay, maybe. that's a good point.
but, i'm still enjoying the little tree. and the star on top. it's so sweet.
soo... who else is getting psyched for the Bro Tour 2011? am i the only one? i was thinking about it earlier today while i was listening to Tally Hall. and at first i thought, "i wish some of them were brothers so they could be on the tour." and then i thought about it more and decided, "no, i think i like it better how they are just all best friends."
i still think that "yellow tie" looks soooo much like Logan from Veronica Mars. it drives me crazy whenever i see him.
and i still have a crush on "red tie" and now also on "blue tie." and "grey tie." ooo i like grey tie because he's the drummer. and "green tie" is super cute. oh heck, i guess i have a crush on all of them. simply because they're all super funny and adorable.
(uh oh....Ruby's tail won't stop moving. no matter how hard she tries to pin it down with her paw, it still keeps moving. now she'll start running around the house.)
i wish i could go see Tally Hall in boston on 3 march!!!! but i have to be here on the 4th.
HEY, has anybody else realized that the days in March are the exact same days as in February?? like, the dates fall on the same days of the week?? FOR REALZ. how often does that happen? for serious! isn't that crazy! i was pretty shocked/excited when i noticed that on my JoBros calendar.
(i've been looking at March a lot because it's Kevin's picture...)
SPEAKING OF KEVIN - you are not going to believe this. he was the only JoBro NOT to get nominated for a Kids Choice Award. Nick and Joe were nominated for the show, but NOT KEVIN.
WHO DECIDES THIS?!?!?! do they even watch the show??! it's SO OBVIOUS that Kevin is the best one. he's the funniest BY FAR. the best comedy actor. especially over NICK!!! Nick is so awkward and rarely funny because he's "the serious one."
maybe i need to become president of Nickelodeon too. really, do i have to do everything for this country? oh, i suppose so.
alright. it's 2:13am. i have to wake up for staff meeting today. that's at 12:30pm. i should go to bed. i've been sooooo tired all day. i thought i was going to have to take a nap. but, i soldiered on through my boring, uneventful day. i stayed awake during The O.C. i stayed awake during my bath. tough day, staying awake through things.
man, i could really listen to Tony belt all day. and all night. and all everything ever forever and ever.
hey! it's Tuesday!! my favorite day of the week!!!! Ruby's favorite day as well. i think.
have a great day. i'll talk to you later!!!!
"YELLOW TIE, this suave fellow writes
Heterophonic tunes of how love bites
RED, the proud, loud guy we adore
Is my amp too high?
No turn it up more!
So GRAY in the back sippin, yeah, I can hear
Knockin' down the shots like Bill Laimbeer
Send home the locksmith
GREEN'S got the keys to unlock the rock in the act if you please
Now open the case
Give BLUE the bass
And jiggle your badiggle all over the place"

ashes where the bodies burning
i'm getting really freaking excited about the possibility of a Crash Kings Roadtrip Weekend in just over two weeks. no, just UNDER two weeks! aahhhh. *don't get too excited in case it doesn't happen!* okay, i won't.
but i can't help it. i'm really excited.
and so i will bombard you with Crash Kings until then. or, at least until my food is done cooking in the toaster.
i think i told you that when we saw Crash Kings in Providence they did a cover of Black Sabbath's song, 'War Pigs,' and i believe i said that they rocked the hell out of this song. i had never heard them play it live before - and it was incredible.
i was searching for Crash Kings videos on youtube that i hadn't seen before and came across some videos from when they were in Jacksonville, Florida on the 26th of January, 2010. and they did their 'War Pigs' cover. and the crowd goes WILD. it's amazing. they're amazing.
and i would like to share that video with you here, right now. i understand if you don't watch the video because you're not familiar with the song. or, maybe you are familiar with the song and just don't like Crash Kings. whatever your reasoning is for not watching the video, i would like you to put those feelings aside and WATCH IT ANYWAYS.
WAR PIGS COVER, Crash Kings, Jacksonville, FL
prepare for amazement. the subject line of this entry, "ashes where the bodies burning" is a line from the song. now normally, i wouldn't use a sentence like this to open an entry because, let's face it, it's a little scary seeming.
BUT, i'm so in love with this cover, that I MYSELF put aside feelings of being scared by the lyrics and used it as the subject.
there you go.
AND NOW, what i have for you, is a review of when Crash Kings were in Portland, Maine performing at The Asylum.
remember the picture of Tony wearing the headband? take that picture, combined with all other Crash Kings videos in the whole world.
THAT MUCH AWESOME doesn't even begin to measure up to the amount of awesome in this review.
it's a review from Bowdoin College's weekly publication. the reviewer is a guy called Cameron Weller. let me just say up front - this guy is in love with Tony. like, totally. nothing to be ashamed about. it's hard to NOT be in love with Tony. i think we all can agree with that.
this review is so crazy insane good. i can't really say anything more. it's SO GOOD. and if reading it doesn't make you want to go see a Crash Kings show, then there is something majorly wrong.
let me just use my favorite part of the review as the link to the page...
Tony may as well have been making love to his clavinet, playing it with wildly moving fingers, his body thrown back in a sort of exorcised pose. His voice exploded with clarity as he belted the memorable lyrics, "I'm sipping on some sunshine!".
this is my favorite part of the review for many reasons. you can probably guess why.
wow. yeah. that guy has a way with imagery.
okay.
yep. there it is.
alright! i believe we just maxed out our pleasure quota per blog post.
so with that - i hope you all are having a lovely monday. i'm very tired today and my eye won't stop twitching. i think i am going to watch an ep of The O.C. Marissa just tried to overdose on painkillers and booze whilst on vaca in Tijuana....so, it's kind of a big episode.
also, the score on The O.C. reminds me A LOT of the score from American Beauty. like, a lot a lot.
ok. go back and look at that Tony pic. YEAH. I KNOW.
talk to you later!

if there ever was a day that you should get away...
HEY.
so, i'm listening to Owl City right now. why? this is why:
i have recently started following Chelsea Staub on Twitter. don't judge me for this. she is the actress who plays Stella on JONAS. she's awesome and really funny. (joe+stella!)
anyways.
so, i was on her page looking at who else she follows, and one of them was Owl City. i thought to myself, "oh! that's the band that's opening for Crash Kings and JET when they go on tour together next month!"
i clicked on 'owl city's' twitter and saw that he had over two hundred thousand followers. and then i thought, "hm. that's kind of weird that he's the opener of three bands if he has over 200 thousand followers."
so, i went to his website and immediately a song started playing. and i was like, "wow, he sounds like the guy that sings that song....i'd like to blahblahblahsomethingsomethingsomething when planet earth turns slooowwwlllyyyyy it's hard to stay awake blahblahsomethingsomething"
(clearly i'm awesome at figuring out lyrics)
ALSO - he has the best website ever. it's so cute and sweet and happy seeming. i just sat there staring with a huge smile on my face. it makes me so happy.
anyways. so, i was like, "oh, i'll check out his tour section!" and so i did. and saw that he was going to be in europe mostly throughout march. and then i said, "hmm....that's not right, because he's playing with JET and Crash Kings in NY on 6 March!"
so then i went to the website of the music venue in Clifton Park, NY - Northern Lights - and went to their calendar.
alas, it's not Owl City playing with JET and Crash Kings. it's a band called Owl. just Owl. not a city of Owl's, just one, singular Owl.
THIS BAND OWL is a little scary seeming. they have an owl with yellow eyes flying around their website. it's three guys - Jason, Chris, and Dan. Dan scares me a lot. he is the drummer. and that's saying a lot, because normally i fall in love with drummers.
anyways, it's these three guys and so i said, "oh! i wonder which of them are the brothers!?" as it turns out, none of them are brothers. so, that's too bad.
it's drums, guitar, and an upright bass in this band. really? yeah. the bass threw me off too.
i haven't listened to any of their music yet, mainly because i'm scared of their website. but, perhaps i will. but maybe not.
so then! i thought, "well, maybe i'll start to learn about JET." because all i know are those two songs:
1. 123 take my hand and come with me because you look so fine that i really wanna make you mine! 456 come on and get your kicks 'cause you don't need that money when you look like that, do ya honey?
are those the lyrics? i don't know. i kind of made some of that up.
and,
2. ohhhhh look what you've done you've made a fool of ...........
and then i don't know the rest. even enough to sing 'blah' to. i can't even think of the tune. anyways.
so, i saw the picture of the band and there are four guys. so i immediately thought, "i wonder which two are the brothers?!"
TURNS OUT - there IS a set of brothers in the band JET!!!!! Nic and Chris are the bros. Cam and Mark are the other guys. they are from Australia! who knew?!
JONAS BROTHERS
HANSON
KINGS OF LEON
CRASH KINGS
JET
with special guests
ROBERT and JASON SCHWARTZMAN
yep. the bro tour. i need to organize this immediately.
either that, or organize the "CRASH KINGS OF LEON" tour. yep. see what i did there? i made a mash-up of those two band names. brillz, right? Phantom Planet would be proud. at the end of their concert DVD there's an end bit where they are sitting around in the tour bus doing really long mash-ups of different bands. it's hilarious.
'slick rick james brown'
brillz. anyways.
okay. here's the verdict - all the Owl City songs kind of sound the same. and they're all like, jam packed with imagery and metaphor.
the song 'Vanilla Twilight' reminds me of ........aw crap, what's that song called? by The Postal Service? AAHHHH what's it called?!?! it's in Garden State, but not the Postal Service version. a slow version.
ok, i have to look it up. SUCH GREAT HEIGHTS. phew. i cheated, i had to go to my iTunes. but, it was driving me nuts.
and Iron and Wine does the slow version, fyi.
ok what else can i tell you.
i had an adventure day today. well, kind of. but not really.
- i woke up and was content for about ten minutes.
- then, one of the residents CRANKED her hardcore hip hop music and it was so loud, my floor was vibrating.
- then, the two girls started screaming at each other. yes, i could hear all this on my third floor apartment.
- they are screaming. they are swearing. doors are slamming.
JULIE: I need to get out of here immediately.
so, i got ready real quick and LEFT. i felt bad that i was leaving Ruby Tuesday. but, i put her on a chair with a patch of sunlight on it so she would be nice and warm. she doesn't like being in the car anyways.
then i drove to the "sandwich shop" Jake's and got a sandwich.
then i drove down the street to the "coffee shop" Jake's and got a coffee. (the 'Jake's' empire is taking over the Upper Valley. there's also a car wash.)
then i drove to a spot that i had been with my dad while he was staying with me. it's a little picnic area that overlooks the Connecticut River, as well as some sort of power plant that looks like the one from the end of The Waterhorse: Legend of the Deep movie.
there were lots of other cars parked there.
there was an empty picnic table sitting on the icy parking lot and so i said, "well, i'll go sit there." kind of because i knew it would be cold. and i was feeling frustrated and sad and i wanted to feel something other than that. so, i decided i wanted to feel cold.
and i went outside and it was cold. and i put in my ipod headphones and had a lovely, freezing cold, solo picnic.
(listening to Owl City makes me want to do the robot.)
and then i finished my sandwich and couldn't feel my hands anymore. so, i went back to my car. i put my car on the "drive-in movie setting" and was still able to play my ipod through the radio, without running down the battery. brillz.
then i called my mom and we talked for a long time. afterwards, i did not feel any better.
so, i decided that i needed another adventure.
i left the icy lot and drove into Hanover, NH. took a left at the main intersection. drove over the Star Wars bridge. into Norwich, VT. down route 5 south. past King Arthur Flour.
(side note:: if i ever start a flour company, it will be called 'Flowery Flour.' how come no one has ever thought of this?!)
and then i came to the point where i could have turned left and went back home. or, i could go straight and continue to route 4 west, which would lead me to the Quechee Gorge. and i decided that i wanted to see the gorge.
so! i took route 4 west for 7 miles and ended up at the gorge. i parked in the little parking lot and walked across the bridge.
whoa! it never ceases to amaze me! it was gorge-ous. there were two couples walking along the bridge with me. i wondered why they were there. for a day adventure too?
i stayed there for a few minutes. (if you're heading west, the left side of the bridge is better.)
and then i left the gorge.
drove east on route 4. south on 89. then i got off at exit 20, went to the grocery store and got a few groceries, including vanilla soy milk and 100% whole wheat multigrain bread. and coffee.
and then i headed home. there was nobody else in the house when i got back, which was nice because it was quiet for a few minutes.
then i took a really long bath. and i listened to good music.
then i put on my pajamas and went to work.
immediately got into an argument with one of the residents.
i was thinking tonight while i was in the bath, "i need to make a birthday playlist!" i have made one for the past two years. the birthday playlist includes my current favorite songs. it's a good way to keep track of my ever-changing music preferences.
OH HEY - did JET perform at the Winter Olympics? like, last week? because i went to their website and it said, "watch JET perform at the Winter Olympics!" and i thought, "hm."
and since i think i am the only person on the planet who hasn't watched any olympics and hasn't followed any coverage whatsoever.... i figured you might know.
BUT IT'S FUNNY - because Crash Kings should have performed! um, they write the best songs about winter, duh! and the outdoors. i read some Crash Kings fan posts saying that people thought 'Mountain Man' should be the theme song for the USA Ski Team.
HEY! in honor of the 2010 Winter Olympics, i will post some lovely photos that i believe you will enjoy:
it's Kara and I at the Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, Alberta. you can read that on the sign. when Kara, my dad and I went on our super huge, super adventurous, super awesome Canadian Adventure a few summers ago, we went to the Olympic Park in Calgary.
for this picture, i was SITTING ON the bobsled track. no way! yes way! and we've all seen the movie Cool Runnings. which is about the bobsled team from Jamaica at the Calgary Olympics. yeah. that's the track. cool, right?
AND THIS PICTURE was taken in Vancouver, at the construction site for the 2010 Olympics! that's happening right now! i don't know which building they were building - but here they are building it! and they are using it right now! that's pretty cool.
yeah. that was an awesome trip.
ANYWAYS. it's 12:37am and i have to eat supper now. and go watch more of The O.C.
YEAH. THE O.C. i started watching it. i'm five episodes in. um, it's great. it's turning out to be way more bromantic than i expected. Seth and Ryan? yeah. total dude-bros. they're really cute. Seth overall is amazing. he's really funny.
i wish Rachel Bilson wasn't so annoying because she's so cute. and i wish Mischa Barton was a better actress.
but! in the very second episode, she's in the car with Seth and Ryan and Rooney is playing on the radio! and she says something like, "oh, i love this band!" or something like that! and that made me really happy and excited BECAUSE she dated Taylor Locke for a long time! the guitarist for Rooney!! who i was making eyes at during the Rooney concert in december! and then he held my hand for a minute during the meet-and-greet. yeah. it was more romantic than it sounds, trust me.
so that made me happy.
and i kind of semi-forgot that Phantom Planet did the theme song. so, that's really exciting. ESPECIALLY in that second episode because Phantom Planet and Rooney are brother bands. each one separately started by a Schwartzman brother. (appearing on the Bro Tour 2011!)
(i figure we'll start scheduling for 2011 because i'm kind of assuming Crash Kings are booked for the rest of the year.)
anyways. i like The O.C. so far. i mean, i'm five episodes in and:
- a house has burned down
- someone has been shot
- cocaine has been done
so, yeah.
OH! i wanted to post a link to THE CHAIR I AM GETTING THIS WEEK!!!!!
yeah, i'm getting a new chair. it's going to be a desk chair for the front room of my apartment with the desk in it. i'm very excited about it. kara is coming to get it with me and we're turning it into a Sister Adventure.
perhaps we'll photo-tweet the day. that sounds fun.
anyways, okay. i think that's all. writing this has put me in a good mood. i think it's a pretty good blog post. lots of links to different things. i like it. and some photos! hopefully some humor. some inspiration. some useless information. the norm.
alright. have a wonderful monday. just imagine the kind of possibility this week holds for us!
IT'S MY BIRTHDAY WEEK!!!!!!!!!
okay, now i'm really excited. MY BIRTHDAY!!!! the best day out of the whole year!
i love going out places on your birthday, because to everyone else, it's just a normal day. but it's not! because it's YOUR birthday! anything but normal! it's like an immortal person walking amongst mortals. they probably look the same, but they're not, because they're immortal.
i might look the same as everyone else on 25 february, but i'm not! because it's my birthday!
i should really get some kind of shirt that reads, "it's my birthday today" or something. or, "today is my favorite day of the year. ask me why!" i like that one.
this year i'll be 24. 24 on the 25th.
NEXT YEAR - 25 on the 25th. yikes. that's a big one. where your age is also the number of your birth date.
i should have a huge blow-out party.
maybe the Bro Tour 2011 will start on 25 February. then i can go to the Bro Tour on my birthday. THAT would rock.
oh man. KEVIN. ZAC. TONY. ROBERT AND JASON.
and the opening band for the Bro Tour could be called the Non-Brother Band, and it could be composed of the non-brothers on the Bro Tour.
example:
Jason, from Crash Kings is not a brother of Mike and Tony
Cam and Mark, are not brothers of Chris and Nic in JET
Matthew, from Kings of Leon is not a brother of the other three
that's a four-man band. it could work. i only know that Jason plays drums. i don't know what the other guys do in their respective bands.
wow. i think i have a really good idea. this is gonna rock.
AND THEN - in the big finale of the Bro Tour, ALL the bands could come out and do a huge cover of 'Get Together' by The Youngbloods!!!! "smile on your brother, everybody get together, try and love one another right now!"
oh wow. this is great. so great. how clever am i? i am so clever. there will be so much love on the Bro Tour. just imagine all those moms! of all those bros! their moms will be so happy.
okay. enough. i'm excited now. so is Ruby Tuesday because she's running crazy around the house.
okay. have a great day. i'll talk to you all later.
if there ever was a day that you should get away
i feel it in my bones, i think today's the day
<3
so, i'm listening to Owl City right now. why? this is why:
i have recently started following Chelsea Staub on Twitter. don't judge me for this. she is the actress who plays Stella on JONAS. she's awesome and really funny.
- a house has burned down

music therapy
THIS MOMENT that i'm in right now is a good moment. i'm sitting here, minutes before i have to go back to work, and i'm drinking a raspberry mocha latte and i'm listening to some of my favorite songs to help make my day not as bad.
and it's better.
all morning was full of stress and very difficult emotion, and i kept thinking, "if i can get through this, then i can go back and listen to (insert current favorite song here)."
and now i have to go back to work until 10pm and probably deal with much more difficult things that i don't really know how to handle.
but right now is good. and i wanted you to know that.

what a night!
so. okay.
i am very tired. it's 3:06am. thursday morning. i have to be awake by at least 10am. yikes.
got back from the hospital not too long ago. false baby alarm. it was pretty stressful. i'm happy it was a false alarm.
we left the hospital around 12:30am. and i thought, "wow, i have to be back here in less than 12 hours!" another appointment. great.
i'm feeling kind of fed up right now. not like, a bad mood. but i don't know. something. just before we left for the hospital i was in the middle of writing a very frustrated email detailing about how i was feeling very annoyed and frustrated. and then the frustration just kept piling up.
it's very frustrating being with two teenagers at a hospital in the middle of the night. one of them 9 months pregnant. and then come back and have nobody to vent to.
oh, that's what you're here for. i know. but sometimes it's not the same. i kind of vented
OK, WOW. so, ONCE AGAIN, in the middle of me writing about how frustrated the night has been going, something else happens to make it even WORSE.
and now i don't even want to vent to anyone because i'm upset and tired. and don't know what to do.
i guess, i don't know.
wow. bad night at work. after nights and nights of uninterrupted quiet - it all happens tonight.
at least i can look over to the mountain and see my star.
ok. goodnight.

"i'd like to say hello and welcome you good day that is my name."
we can even go and take a walk or something like that or something like that.
oh hi.
it's me here for some late afternoon blogging. it's 5:31pm. wednesday afternoon. i didn't blog yesterday, i don't think. did i? no, i don't think so.
i watched movies yesterday! two of them! oooo let me tell you about it!!!!
- watched 'UP.' not to be confused with the George Clooney movie 'Up in the Air.' this is 'Up' the Pixar movie. i am going to be honest - i had absolutely no idea what this movie was about when i put it in my Netflix queue. i still had absolutely no idea what it was about when i pressed 'play' on the dvd menu yesterday. i simply rented it because everyone said it was awesome and it's probably going to win Best Animated Feature over (the other George Clooney movie) Fantastic Mr. Fox.
so, i watched Up.
and wow, i really liked it! within the first like, 15 minutes, i was crying.
here's the basic plot: in order to avoid moving to a retirement community, an old man ties a billion balloons to his house and sets sail to South America to fulfill a childhood dream of becoming an adventurer, and also in remembrance of his wife, who has recently passed away.
i really liked it. i thought it was going to turn stupid and silly when the talking dogs arrived on the scene. but, i stuck with it, and still really liked it.
yeah, i really liked it. i gave it four stars. really great music by Michael Giacchino. wow, i got his last name spelling right on the first try. i'm hoping he wins the Academy Award for best score. anybody know if he's going to be the musical director for the show?!?! he has been for the past couple years, i believe.
and i remember talking this past summer about how awesome it would be if he won an Academy Award and walked up from the orchestra pit. aw! that'd be so fun!! i think i was talking about if he won for Star Trek, though. because i also really liked that score. and he also does the music for the show Lost. he's a good composer. also did Cloverfield, whose soundtrack featured 'West Coast' by Coconut Records.
anyways. 'Up' was very good. and it's the first animated film to be nominated for Best Picture since..... Beauty and the Beast? which was the first.
i liked Beauty and the Beast better. there's really no animated film that can beat it.
that's true.
and, i did like Fantastic Mr. Fox better than Up. for the record. i think it was more beautiful. funnier. i mean, come on.
and frankly, i don't know if i think Up should be nominated in both categories. it's nominated for Best Animated Feature and for Best Picture.
i mean, the Best Animated category was introduced in 2001 to honor the animated films. so, when Beauty and the Beast was nominated, there wasn't even an animated category at all.
it seems that if an animated movie is worthy of being nominated for Best Picture, then it should not be nominated in the animated feature category.
but, i guess if it really is the best picture of the year, then it would make sense to be nominated in both.
same as like, if a foreign film was nominated for both Best Foreign Film and Best Picture.
but, that's why they have the foreign film category.
i guess they should become more specific about the Best Picture category. they should not be opening it up to become anyone's game. oh wait, they already have! ten nominees, don't forget.
OH THAT'S SUCH CRAP. i can't believe they're actually going through with it.
IF I BECAME PRESIDENT OF THE ACADEMY OF MOTION PICTURE ARTS AND SCIENCES RIGHT NOW - i would do away with five of those movies. immediately. first order of business. i would sit in a private theater and watch all of them once through, and then watch all of them twice through, and then pick which are the five best.
- avatar
- the blind side
- district 9
- an education
- the hurt locker
- inglorious bastards
- precious
- a serious man
- up
- up in the air
i have no idea which i would keep.
probably Avatar. even though i haven't seen it. i mean, James Cameron totally invented the new cameras to make this movie. and he's been working on it for like, 10 years. ok, give him the nomination.
Up in the Air was good. but, i don't see why it's one of the Best Pictures. best sound nominee? yes. (which it isn't)
District 9? um, i don't know. i thought it was a lot better than i expected. and i thought it definitely had a great message of accepting people who are different than you. much like Beauty and the Beast.
i don't know.
i would probably have a new slot called "flashback nominee" which would feature a movie from past years that should have either been nominated, or should have won.
THE 2010 "FLASHBACK NOMINEE" FOR BEST PICTURE: Revolutionary Road.
and then i would rig the voting so Revolutionary Road would win.
yeah, that's what i would do. i would do like they did on Veronica Mars when they voted for class president or something. and Duncan won over that other girl because they mismatched the choices so you thought you were voting for that girl, when really you were voting for Duncan.
actually, i guess i'll have to come up with a different plan seeing as how i just explained it all to you.
i don't know. there weren't really any movies this year that i absolutely loved. i can't remember the last movie i rated five stars on Netflix. well, i just checked through my Netflix ratings. and the only new movie i saw in 2009 that i rated five stars was...... Fantastic Mr. Fox.
and there you have it.
even 17 Again only earned four stars. ZAC. i chose an animated George Clooney fox over real-life fox, Zac Efron. THAT'S how good Mr. Fox was.
maybe i'll ask the Oscar guy on Twitter what he thinks about the Best Animated category. if he thinks Mr. Fox can pull through. OOOOOOO I HOPE SO.
ok. this was not at all where i wanted this to go. i was just giving a movie review. and then got off topic.
if we stay off topic, i would like you to all know that i just added 'Darren Robinson' as my friend on facebook. he posted a thing on twitter that was like, "friend me on facebook if you want!" and i said, "okay, i want." so i did.
and, moving on...
the other movie i watched yesterday was
GRACE IS GONE. starring John Cusack. about a guy who's wife dies while in the Army over in Iraq and he can't find the way to tell his two daughters, so he takes them on a family roadtrip to an amusement park instead.
i thought it was alright. most of the movie they had John Cusack dressed like a serial killer, which really bothered me. and the two young girls were never wearing seatbelts in the car. that also really bothered me. why weren't they wearing seatbelts? and it was super obvious because they would change from the backseat to the frontseat and everything. i didn't like that.
the movie was okay. i gave it three stars.
what i'm really looking forward to is TOMORROW.
folks. i have big news. big, exciting news which i think might make my 2010 a lot better.
tomorrow, in the mail, i am getting disc one of season one, of....... THE O.C.
YES!!!! i am going to start watching The O.C. i only ever saw one episode while it was actually on television. and i really didn't care to watch it. but now i am older and wiser and i feel a tv show like The O.C. will fit perfectly into my life.
i am really, really, freaking excited.
BUT. i don't think i'll be able to make it to the post office tomorrow, which REALLY bums me out. i'll probably have to wait until friday.
i am working tomorrow at 11am, i think. and then probably (but maybe not...) straight through until 10pm. if i can find a free minute before 3:30 to make it to the post office - I WILL. but, i'm kind of not counting on it. bummer.
but i'm really excited. and i mailed back two movies today, which means that if i wake up and go to the post office on saturday morning - i could have a whole weekend of The O.C. a head of me.
and even better: i think there is someone named Julie on the show.
even better tv show news: i learned via @joejonas twitter that season 2 of JONAS started filming this week!!!!!!! oooohhhhhh boy i am so excited about this too.
ok, moving on.
i learned today that the hott drummer from Paper Tongues is named Jordan. i like that. i actually learned all of their names. ready? let's see if i can do it:
ASWAN = lead singer
JORDAN = hott drummer
DANNY = bass
CODY = keys
CLAYTON = keys
CRAP. i'm missing two of them. ooooo julie you can do this. ok, focus, focus..... there's another one that starts with a D....
DEVIN = guitar
and i think there's another J one.................. ah!!!
JOEY = guitar
YES!!!! i think i did it. shall we check?
YES!!! i got them all right. phew. and none of those guys are brothers. they are just bff.
i don't know why it's so hard for me to find out people's names in bands. it took me two months to figure out the names of the guys in Tally Hall and figure out who played what.
it even took me a really long time to figure out all of Rooney. all i knew were Robert and Taylor. for like, years.
anyways.
i started following Rob Cantor of Tally Hall on twitter yesterday and he posted some pictures of the tour with Rooney and Crash Kings, and one picture was called, "Jason Schwartzman playing drums for Rooney" and i immediately clicked on the link, and sure enough, it was Jason Schwartzman playing drums for Rooney. ON THE TOUR.
WWHHYYY couldn't that have happened in Boston?!?!
i also started following Joe from Tally Hall on twitter and his twitter is the best. it's a "dream/nightmare blog" where he tweets about either his dream or nightmare from the previous night. it's really funny.
hm. what else.
Ruby Tuesday ate a whole slice of turkey breast today. i bought some at the store because i wanted a sandwich. and she ate a whole slice that i gave to her in pieces. well, okay, i had a little piece too. but, she probably ate 3/4 of it. and then she fell asleep. and then i went to go make the sandwich and she immediately came running into the kitchen because she smelled the turkey. so, i gave her a piece of cheese instead. and she sniffed it on the ground and then looked up to me with sleepy eyes. she was like, "yeah, i know this isn't turkey."
it was sweet.
and then i made a sandwich and watched the season finale of Heroes. it was good, i guess. not really climatic. mainly because i didn't really understand why Samuel was the bad guy until very recently. he just didn't seem that bad. but yet everyone was fearing him and saying how bad he was. and i was just like, "but he's irish and hott....." i just didn't see it. but then i guess he really was bad.
and Sylar turned good? i don't know. i don't really know what Heroes is about anymore. kind of like Lost. but i still really enjoy Heroes anyways, whereas i struggled to get through one episode of Lost a few weeks ago.
ok. what else.
i've been sleeping a lot lately. like, 10 hours the past two nights. i think my week of getting up early has caught up to me.
uugghh i have to go to work in two hours.
i might paint my nails coral. like, bright coral. in honor of my birthday week. which starts tomorrow and goes until the end of the month.
one week from tomorrow is my birthday! i am going to be 24 years old. OLD.
here's what my horoscope for today said:
Like a compass, you know where your true north is. You know your purpose here.
that was my "shortened horoscope." but i read that and thought,
1. OMG COMPASS!!!!! i really need to get that tattoo....
2. when am i going to find out these things?
where is my true north? what is my purpose here? beats me. maybe it will come to me in a dream tonight. ooooo now there's pressure for me to have an epiphanic dream.
did i just make up that word? the adjective of 'epiphany?' is that right? hold on.
i think that's right. or, should i have said, "now there's pressure for me to have an epiphanous dream." ?? i don't know.
i've had a few awesome people ask me where i find my totes brillz horoscopes. and i find them, HERE:
totes brillz horoscopes.
on Yahoo. i think they have a really good astrology section. and make sure to read your Chinese Astrology too. that one is usually really good. (i am a tiger. and this is MY year.)
it's funny. because, this is also the year where Jupiter is moving through Pisces for most of the year, which is supposed to bring me happiness and optimism. and, this is also the year of the Tiger, which is supposed to make everything awesome for me as well.
i guess i'm not really feeling any of that good stuff yet.
and now i'm one year older.
let's stop talking about this.
if you've ever been to visit me here in Lebanon, NH, you might know that we have a total sketch movie theater on "Miracle Mile," on which there really is nothing miraculous.
this is the movie theater where the heat was broken in like, half the theaters for pretty much the whole month of December. and they tiny space heaters in the front of the auditoriums. it was lame.
this is also the theater that is in dire need of some new letters for their marquee out front. today, i drove by and looked at what was playing. i said to myself, "what is that movie 'Hunter' about?' i thought and thought. "it sounds like a movie possibly starring either Gerard Butler or Mark Wahlberg."
and then, i was almost home and i realized, it did not say, 'Hunter,' it said, 'Avatar.' THAT'S how bad their movie lettering is. let me try and recreate how the sign looked:
HVnTRR
no, this is not a joke. it looked pretty much like that, except the first R was backwards, which i cannot do on my laptop keys, i don't think.
they must have been completely out of letter A's, because they used an H, a lowercase n, and an R to try and get the look of an A.
i came home and immediately started trying to find a place to buy them a set of sign letters. it looks like i would need some information from them. like, what type of lettering they use. slide letters or snap letters. it looks like a set of letters runs from about $70-$90.
if i had an extra $100 to give away, i would probably buy them a set of letters. as a donation. because they are in dire need of it. and maybe someday soon, i will buy them those letters. if i wasn't trying to save up for a plane ticket to British Columbia, then i probably would.
oh, and student loans, too. oh, and there's car insurance. and my subscription to Entertainment Weekly which i just renewed.
HEY! here's something FREE that will brighten your mind and your day and heck, probably your whole WEEK!!!!!!
http://whoisthecalifornian.com/
remember when i was super promoting that show in Silverlake, California by the band The Californian? Darren's new band.
WELL. they are about to release their EP sometime not soon enough, and TODAY they released a track fully mixed and fully mastered. and it just so happens to be my favorite song of theirs that i've heard via their myspace.
SPIN ROUND. oh, this song is so good. i'm just about to start listening to it for the third time in a row. it's so great.
and next week, they're playing their second show at On the Rox, which i think is either above or below The Roxy. probably above since it's "on the rox." i'll fully promote that one when the time comes.
but for now! please go listen to that song. that one song. it's like, 3 minutes 38 seconds of your time.
just go to that link, and under the first blog post at the top of the page, there is a little silver bar with a "play" button on it. press that button. and prepare yourself for awesome.
i'll give you some time to prepare.
(....................................................)
okGO.
speaking of OKGO, has anyone else heard their most recent record? i hear it's total and complete amazingness. is this true? i've never really listened to them much. except for some of their songs. and that one time i saw them in concert. but, i will listen to this new record if it's that's awesome. which i hear it is.
ok. i think that's all. it's currently 7:19pm. i've pretty much been blogging straight through. except for those few times where i needed to go look things up online.
1. check the names of the paper tongues guys.
2. epiphanic
3. best picture info
alright, friends. i hope you are having lovely wednesdays. i'm having an alright one, i suppose. i think i'm going to go take a bath right now.
it's been kind of lame because the water temperature here can only be so hot because of the daycare regulations. which means that MY hot water can only be so hot. which means that sometimes it's not as hot as i would like it to be. which isn't very satisfying.
oh well.
there, i have at least written 3 minutes and 38 seconds of more blog so there's really no excuse for not going to that website and listening to Spin Round. it's so good, i promise. if you don't like the song, then leave me a comment saying, "ya know what, i didn't really like that song." and leave your name, and i will write an apologetic blog to you.
and i will follow through on that promise so that when i am running for office they can look back and say, "wow, she does follow through on her promises!"
AH HA!!!! my purpose in life!!!!!! maybe my true north is pointing to WASHINGTON, DC!!!!!
ugh i just had to kill a spider on my wall.
ok. i'm on my fifth time in a row listening to that song. maybe i'll change it to the National Anthem. then everyone would have to listen to it and have to learn all the words. great publicity, eh? who says there can only be one National Anthem? not me. i never said that.
we could turn it into a reality show! let the people choose the national anthem!! it is their song, after all. (but, i would really get the ultimate say.) or, i could just take a tip from, cough myself cough and rig the voting!!!!
i like that. i am going to like it when i am president. i think you will like it too. i guess i better stop talking about rigging the voting system, though. that will probably backfire.
anyways.
now i'm going to go. and now there's definitely been enough time for you to go listen to that song.
ok! love you. have a great evening. i'll talk to you again soon.
spin round three more times
open your eyes, tell me what you see.
everything you want looks just like everything you need.
<3
oh hi.
it's me here for some late afternoon blogging. it's 5:31pm. wednesday afternoon. i didn't blog yesterday, i don't think. did i? no, i don't think so.
i watched movies yesterday! two of them! oooo let me tell you about it!!!!
ASWAN = lead singer
JORDAN = hott drummer
DANNY = bass
CODY = keys
CLAYTON = keys
CRAP. i'm missing two of them. ooooo julie you can do this. ok, focus, focus..... there's another one that starts with a D....
DEVIN = guitar
and i think there's another J one.................. ah!!!
JOEY = guitar
YES!!!! i think i did it. shall we check?
YES!!! i got them all right. phew. and none of those guys are brothers. they are just bff.
i don't know why it's so hard for me to find out people's names in bands. it took me two months to figure out the names of the guys in Tally Hall and figure out who played what.
it even took me a really long time to figure out all of Rooney. all i knew were Robert and Taylor. for like, years.
anyways.
i started following Rob Cantor of Tally Hall on twitter yesterday and he posted some pictures of the tour with Rooney and Crash Kings, and one picture was called, "Jason Schwartzman playing drums for Rooney" and i immediately clicked on the link, and sure enough, it was Jason Schwartzman playing drums for Rooney. ON THE TOUR.
WWHHYYY couldn't that have happened in Boston?!?!
i also started following Joe from Tally Hall on twitter and his twitter is the best. it's a "dream/nightmare blog" where he tweets about either his dream or nightmare from the previous night. it's really funny.
hm. what else.

"i was airborn for more than five minutes. that's how i got the nickname 'Ross.'"
it's 9:35pm and i wanted to give you an update on my evening since i last talked to you. just so you're not on the edge of your seat wondering what went on in my life.
- i came home from work at 6:30pm
- ate some more homemade pad thai which i actually really enjoy and so does Ruby
- watched some Tally Hall Internet Show (T.H.I.S.) videos. i think i watched like, 4 of them. that's 40 minutes. my favorite one was the one where Zubin dies and his dying wish is for Joe, Rob and Andrew to kill Ross. but nobody knows why. so then they made a plan to kill Ross after deciding that it's the right thing to do. and then Ross is like, "wait, don't i get a dying wish?" and then nobody knows what to do... it was very funny. and i'm still in love with Joe. what a cutie.
- then i hung out some more on the internet
- and before i knew it, it was time for me to go back to work!
i don't know what i'm going to do now. possibly more T.H.I.S. why not?
oh! i know what else i did tonight. i wrote out those checks to the City of Lebanon to register my car. i included a "thank you!" note inside. i don't know why. i guess i figured that if i were actually going in to register the car, i would thank them for helping me. so, i thought since i am doing it by mail, i would include a note. i think it was the right thing to do.
i also filled out a survey for Geico. i recently signed up for their car insurance. and then they sent me a survey. they included a prepaid envelope to send it back in, so i thought, "eh, why not?"
and i made a pile of things to mail tomorrow. and then i have to go to the bank. and that's it! no plans.
OH! actually, i may be doing some belly casts tomorrow. but i'm not sure. i have to email the other Julie. don't let me forget.
i think i'll be able to go to bed early tonight. i'm pretty tired. at 8pm i thought about taking a nap for 45 minutes. but then i thought, "eh, with my faulty alarm phone i better not."
apparently we might get 3-7 inches of snow tomorrow. that'd be weird. we have pretty much no snow at all.
hey!! this weekend my mom and i could see people skiing down the mountain behind my house!!!!! it was awesome! when my dad was up we also saw people skiing down, but not from my house. we could actually see them! it was really cool.
it's a really pretty ski slope on saturday nights. because the whole mountain is all lit up with lights on the side, and then the big star at the top. it's so pretty!
i promise one of these days i'll get a good picture of the star. it's hard because i would just walk and do it, but i don't want to be a creeper taking pictures in front of people's houses. and i would go later, but then i have to work.
oh! i have more good news. there is a house in my neighborhood that leaves their porch light on all the time. there is someone there who returns from something around like, 2am. so the light is on for them. and just this past weekend, they switched to an energy saver light bulb! you can tell! i was very excited to see this.
hmmmmm. alright. i think maybe that's all.
my birthday is in 10 days.
ok. that's all for real.
Happy Future President's Day to me, a future president of the united states of america.
have a great ruby tuesday.

oh! i know what else i did tonight. i wrote out those checks to the City of Lebanon to register my car. i included a "thank you!" note inside. i don't know why. i guess i figured that if i were actually going in to register the car, i would thank them for helping me. so, i thought since i am doing it by mail, i would include a note. i think it was the right thing to do.
i also filled out a survey for Geico. i recently signed up for their car insurance. and then they sent me a survey. they included a prepaid envelope to send it back in, so i thought, "eh, why not?"
and i made a pile of things to mail tomorrow. and then i have to go to the bank. and that's it! no plans.
OH! actually, i may be doing some belly casts tomorrow. but i'm not sure. i have to email the other Julie. don't let me forget.
i think i'll be able to go to bed early tonight. i'm pretty tired. at 8pm i thought about taking a nap for 45 minutes. but then i thought, "eh, with my faulty alarm phone i better not."
apparently we might get 3-7 inches of snow tomorrow. that'd be weird. we have pretty much no snow at all.
hey!! this weekend my mom and i could see people skiing down the mountain behind my house!!!!! it was awesome! when my dad was up we also saw people skiing down, but not from my house. we could actually see them! it was really cool.
it's a really pretty ski slope on saturday nights. because the whole mountain is all lit up with lights on the side, and then the big star at the top. it's so pretty!
i promise one of these days i'll get a good picture of the star. it's hard because i would just walk and do it, but i don't want to be a creeper taking pictures in front of people's houses. and i would go later, but then i have to work.
oh! i have more good news. there is a house in my neighborhood that leaves their porch light on all the time. there is someone there who returns from something around like, 2am. so the light is on for them. and just this past weekend, they switched to an energy saver light bulb! you can tell! i was very excited to see this.
hmmmmm. alright. i think maybe that's all.
my birthday is in 10 days.
ok. that's all for real.
Happy Future President's Day to me, a future president of the united states of america.
have a great ruby tuesday.
<3
to die by your side is such a heavenly way to die
hiya.
have a good weekend? have a good valentine's day? i sure hope so.
friday night i was at work from 3pm to 10pm. didn't really do much of anything except make people mad at me. oh, and i did some knitting too.
came home. ate supper. i think i might have watched a movie. or, maybe not. i actually can't remember.
i watched this movie recently called Spread. starring Ashton Kutcher. now, i really like Ashton. i think he's a good guy and a good actor. and i kept seeing this movie, Spread, advertised everywhere. and every time i saw the cover of the movie, i thought it was a picture of Ashton holding a long, silver knife.
but, i didn't really take the time to look at it. and then one day i did. and saw that he was in fact, holding a scarf. and i thought, "oh, i guess he's not holding a knife. maybe i want to see that movie."
and then i read about it and decided that yeah, i think i would like it. about Ashton, who's essentially like a male slut. he doesn't have a home or a car or anything. just hooks up with these rich women to get them to buy him stuff and he lives in their houses, etc. but then of course, he meets the woman who he really loves and he can't have her. blah blah. yeah, it was pretty predictable.
overall, there were some funny moments. but it was mostly sad. especially in the end. but it's always nice to look at Ashton. so, it was an alright movie.
Saturday my mom came! she arrived just before noontime. i made coffeecake! it turned out really good. i was happy. Ruby Tuesday enjoyed some cinnamon and brown sugar.
we hung around the house for a bit. chatting and whatnot. Ruby was happy to see her.
now, ever since i have moved up here my mom has constantly been talking about going to visit the King Arthur Flour place which is in Norwich, Vermont. it's i guess where they make the King Arthur Flour brand. which is supposed to be the best flour ever, or something.
which i don't really understand because how could one flour be better than another? is there that much wiggle room in the 'flour making process?' i don't know. i was hoping for some information on this, but we found none.
we went to the big store though and looked at all the really, really expensive King Arthur products. baking essentials. cooking essentials. tools. aprons. napkins. spices. mixes. EVERYTHING. and everything was soooo expensive.
and the place was packed!!!! who goes there? i don't know. i was pretty confused. i asked my mom,
JULIE: Who do you think these people are? Are they local? Did they come from far away?
MOM: They're probably all bakers who come here to get their ingredients.
sure enough, we saw an SUV from New York loading up on huge bags of what appeared to be flour or something.
i was still confused. can normal people afford all this expensive fanciness?
i don't know. i suppose it was fun looking at all those things. but actually, i dislike kitchen stores. pretty much all the time. but, it was fun being with my mom. and pretending that maybe i was a good baker.
you know what? i AM a good baker. i am a good cook too. i just don't really like doing either of those things. but i like cooking better.
anyways.
after that, we decided we were hungry. so, after driving around for a while, decided to go to Jesse's, which is in Hanover. it's like a rustic place. everyone was always talking about how great this place is. Courtney especially.
so, we tried it! and it was very good! we had the salad bar, which is something they are well-known for, i think. very good! clam chowder which Courtney recommended! very good! and we got a tomato basil flatbread! very very good!!!! and i had some flatbread leftovers the next day and i think it was even better than the first day! it was pretty packed in there with people celebrating Valentine's Day.
everybody was ordering fancy things. like steak.
after that, we went to Kohl's because my mom had a 30% off thing. we pretty much just looked around. we were both feeling extremely full from dinner. she bought some things, though.
then we had to run into the grocery store. and then we went back home!
a nice night.
we relaxed for a while with Ruby, who was happy that we had returned. and then watched Love and Other Disasters. one of the greats. starring Brittany Murphy. i just really enjoy that movie. i love her clothes and i love her hair. and i love that every sunday she has brunch with her friends. and her best friend Peter who she lives with reminds me so much of myself.
then i had to start work at 10pm. it was a quiet night.
then we finished the movie, had tea and some cookies. talked for a while, and then went to bed.
all of us, including Ruby Tuesday, slept very late on sunday. then we got up, had some leftover coffee cake and made some scrambled eggs.
we basically just hung around all afternoon sunday talking and looking at various things online. it was really fun.
then she left around 4pm. i took this time to be sad. clean up a bit, but not really.
then decided that i wanted to go to the grocery store. and i bought things to make pad thai. things such as rice noodles and special pad thai sauce. i looked EVERYWHERE for frozen shrimp but i couldn't find it for the life of me. i walked through EVERY frozen aisle in the place. like, four times.
all this time i am thinking, "i can't wait until i am president and grocery stores will be ALPHABETIZED." i couldn't even find like, fish sticks. any kind of frozen fish was nowhere to be found. where was it? why wasn't it in the frozen food section? i have no idea.
yes, i could have asked somebody. but i didn't really feel like talking to anyone on Valentine's Day.
then i came home and took a bath. Ruby took a nap first on the cabinets and then moved to my bed.
after my bath i went to work. came back upstairs and said,
JULIE: Holy crap I never made my annual Valentine's Day iTunes playlist!!!!!
this is unbelievable. every year i make a new Valentine's playlist. and this year i just didn't even think about it. and i also never talked about remembering to wear pink or red like, a month in advance. both are things i do every year.
this year? i am just not myself.
but, how am i not myself?
i guess maybe i am just changing.
anyways. so, i made a playlist at around 11pm on Valentine's Day. here is a selection of songs:
- Thirteen, Big Star
- Forever, Chris Brown
- Sunshower, Chris Cornell
- Courtyard (instrumental), Coconut Records
- My Love, Crash Kings
- Kiss the Girl, The Little Mermaid
- Wedding Ring, The Hard Lessons
- Burning Up, Jonas Brothers
- Lovely Tonight, Joshua Radin
- I Hear the Bells, Mike Doughty
- Us, Regina Spektor
- I Was Made For You, She and Him
- There Is A Light That Never Goes Out, The Smiths
- I Summon You, Spoon
- I Love You, The Zombies
it's also great making new playlists because they force you to go through your whole music library. and i came across Tally Hall.
remember them? they were the middle band in a Crash Kings/Rooney concert sandwich. and i had downloaded a bunch of their songs but then forgot to listen to them because i have been so consumed with Crash Kings.
so i said, "i'll listen to them right now!"
and i did. and then i remembered that they had recently tweeted about a March tour which was starting in Boston. so i looked that up. and guess where they are playing?!
Great Scott!!! where Kara and i were just a few weeks ago! and that made me so happy to think that they are playing in the same spot where Crash Kings were. and they must be kind of friends because they were on tour with each other for like, a whole month.
oh, that made me so happy. and then i went on YouTube and began watching Tally Hall's "Boralogue" videos, which documents their time in the recording studio from this past fall.
it's so funny. and then! i noticed that they had a TON of other videos uploaded, so i started watching them. and i realized that this band is not only a band, they are pretty much a comedy troupe.
they create these short little skits and put them on youtube. and a lot of them are REALLY FUNNY.
it's not like Rooney video diaries, where Robert actually sits down to do a post.
and it's not like Phantom Planet blog videos, where they just start filming whatever they are doing and it ends up being hilarious.
it's actually more like, The Lonely Island. Andy, Jorma and Akiva. they would create these super short little skits. and most of them are like, one minute, but they are sooo funny.
i found myself laughing OUT LOUD for most of the videos. these guys are so funny. they are like, five best friends from Michigan who love being entertaining. and it's soo great!
and through watching these videos, i finally figured out who they all are. and i will write it in here so i don't forget:
ROB = yellow tie = main vocals
ANDREW = green tie = pianos
JOE = red tie = guitar/vocals
ROSS = grey tie = drums
ZUBIN = blue tie = bass
remember how they always wear colored ties? and there's that great rap part in the song 'Welcome to Tally Hall' where Zubin raps about each of them and calls them by their tie color.
but then, they can go from being these really silly guys, to creating beautiful songs! immediately after listening to all their songs, i decided that 'Greener' is my favorite at the moment. but i also really like, 'Good Day' and 'Smile Like You Mean It,' which i believe was featured on The O.C. which i decided i might start watching because i realized i really enjoy watching Rachel Bilson. she was on that show, right?
why not start watching The O.C.? everybody else has seen it. yeah. i think i'll do that.
anyways. Tally Hall. i had forgotten about them, but i am glad i remembered. because now i am in love with all five of them. especially red tie.
and there are some great videos of Joe dressed in a gorilla suit, going about normal life. which makes me wonder, 'what's with awesome bands that like to dress up as gorillas?'
man. i really can't watch those Tally Hall videos at work because i am laughing too hard! they are sure to brighten up this unhappy time in my life.
i really love two things:
1. when bands are best friends within the band
2. when bands are best friends with each other
i love the same thing with celebs. like, how Jessica Biel and Jennifer Garner are best friends. that's so great!
and it's so much fun watching the Tally Hall guys because they're best friends!
and this morning Paper Tongues tweeted about how much they will miss touring with Crash Kings and how great they are. and then Crash Kings tweeted back to Paper Tongues saying that they will miss touring as well, and how great it's been.
that's so cute.
AND. speaking of bro bands, i just learned that KINGS OF LEON is composed of THREE BROTHERS and ONE COUSIN. who knew?!?! did you know this? why am i just finding out now?!
yes. Caleb, Nathan and Jared are the bros and Matthew is the cousin. so great!
so, Kings of Leon can be added to the Bro Tour featuring music by Hanson, Jonas Brothers, Crash Kings, and Kings of Leon, with special guests Robert and Jason Schwartzman.
this also makes me wonder, 'why are there no sister bands?' how come parents always end up having bunches of musical brothers? where are the musical sisters?
there are The Chapin Sisters. who i got an email from this morning.
maybe after i teach myself how to play piano kara and i can form a family band. i feel like people make fun of family bands, but CLEARLY that's the way to go.
ALY AND AJ. they are sisters who have a band. Kara reminded me of that. they sing 'disney appropriate songs.' kara also recently described the plot of a movie starring Aly and AJ called, Cow Belles. about two rich socialite sisters who end up working on a diary farm and learning important life lessons along the way.
speaking of bands, i have been wanting to post this link for you that i got via Darren Robinson's twitter. i believe it's pretty much his favorite link ever:
http://www.isnickelbacktheworstbandever.com
pretty good.
anyways, i am posting a link to Tally Hall's main youtube page in case you have any desire to laugh or have your spirits brightened.
laugh! spirits brighter!
there you go. please enjoy them. and please enjoy the Tally Hall cuties. here's what they look like:
how cute.
anyways.
i'm at work. have been all this time! did i fool you? did you think i was at home?!
last night i was getting into bed and thinking and people who live at their jobs. and the only other person i could come up with was Barack Obama.
awesome, right? and then i was like, "i should talk to him about his strategies for separating home from work."
ya know? because he basically just gets dressed and then goes downstairs to work. right? although, i think his work-related travel is probably much more grand than mine. in a lot of ways though, i think Barack and myself have the same job.
we both live where we work.
we both have people get mad at us.
we both work with hard situations.
we both try and make people's lives better.
when i am putting together my presidential campaign, i will have to remember this blog post so that i can recall all the similarities between this job and being president. as well as all those other blog posts where i outline my campaign strategies and focal points.
but the living at work is a big thing, though. not a lot of jobs are like that. and i think it's a crucial point.
ok. i have to do some real work now. it will probably take me approximately 10 minutes.
there is nobody in work today. currently i am the only staff in the house. diane is out to lunch with a friend. sue is on a walk with a resident. everybody else is away.
i don't know what my plans are for tonight. probably hanging around. maybe i'll organize the cabinet under my toaster and coffee maker. that needs some work. maybe i'll hang up that cork board. maybe i'll clean out that corner next to the couch.
i think Crash Kings needs to start doing more online promotion. i think they would be good at doing what Phantom Planet did. creating "blog videos" which, again, was just them, filming themselves at random times, which turned out to be funny.
they have one video like that. where it's them hanging out at a random dance party in a mall. it's pretty funny. and they need to more of that.
hm. okay. what else was i going to say?
something important.
OH YEAH. i need to buy an alarm clock. because, again this morning, my phone alarm failed me. it went off, but the volume was very, very low. and i don't know why this was. i checked to make sure it was set at a high level, and it was set at the highest level volume. both the overall volume on the phone and the alarm volume.
and the battery was all charged up. there is no explanation. i dislike that phone. i hate having to slide it open. i think that looks pretty obnoxious.
me and one of the residents here were just doing Pop Culture Quizzes on People.com. yeah, we did pretty good at the "name that party girl" quiz. and REALLY good at the "love connection" one. it was like, "nick jonas dated....." and then there were choices. and it was "selena gomez." and then it was like, "selena gomez dated...." and the answer was taylor lautner. and then, "taylor lautner dated....." taylor swift. "taylor swift dated....." joe jonas. "joe jonas dated.....camilla belle. camilla belle made out with.......robert pattinson." the end! it was a big accomplishment of the day.
maybe i will start an internet tv show.
sometimes i think i would like to do blog videos. but then i think about it and decide 'no.'
OH OH OH. i know what was very important that i tell you about.
ALIYA'S WONDERFUL BLOG. for the whole month of february she is doing "an art installation-a-day." it is beautiful and inspiring and you will love it. please check it out.
ok. now we're plugged in.
i just had to go out into the kitchen for a minute, and when i was walking back to the office, i said, "is that cake on the counter?"
and sure enough - it was. and as soon as i saw the frosting i said, "man i really want frosting right now."
so i enjoyed a piece of cake. it was chocolate. and delicious. with pink and green frosting. it looked like it might have been leftover from valentine's day. perhaps it was a donation this morning. cake donations are the best kind.
i guess i'll wait on getting an alarm clock. i have a CD player alarm clock in maine that i can bring here when i clear out my room.
wow. i can say that today at work has been really boring. although, i have gotten a lot accomplished with writing this blog post.
it is currently 4:38pm. i have been working since noon. i have about another hour. nothing is happening. there is still nobody here.
just took a long phone call.
currently 4:51pm.
now there are two people here with me.
doesn't this feel like an Airport Lounge update? just me sitting here, coming up with different things to say on the spot.
still no plans for tonight. no plans at all for tomorrow either. or wednesday. maybe i'll try and get my car inspected. that needs to happen this month.
actually. i should probably mail out those checks this week. for the registration.
so, the way things have been going here, it looks like there MIGHT be a SLIGHT chance that i COULD go on the Crash Kings Roadtrip Concert Weekend. on the 6th and 7th of March.
i'm not getting my hopes up. and i haven't talked to the girl that i might go with. but, i think i might mention it to my boss that if everything goes that way it looks like it might go, then i would want those days off.
HOW MUCH FUN would that be?!?! at first i was all upset about possibly missing the Oscars. but did you read that wonderful comment i got from a woman who had been all around the country for 10 months following her favorite band?! and how many awesome friends she made?!?!
i have to start making new friends. and what better way to do it than over a common interest!?
right?!?!
oookkkkkkk. i suppose that might be all i have to talk about.
5:04pm now.
what else can i say to you?!
i think that's all.
1. listen to Tally Hall.
2. watch their online videos
3. eat some cake
4. see the Ashton Kutcher movie if you want
5. listen to some romantic Valentine's songs
6. be well
7. (tbd)
have a great night everyone. perhaps i'll talk to you later. but perhaps not. but maybe because i'll most likely be lonely tonight. but, maybe not.
my horoscope today said this:
Congratulations. What you're about to enjoy is better than Ed McMahon showing up at your door with a giant check. The heavens have arranged an absolutely heavenly -- if you'll pardon the pun -- array of callers, all of whom will be intent on making you happy. Fortunately, the right one will indeed be among the crowd that's amassing. All you have to do is show up and interview applicants. Tough job.
unreal, right? BETTER than a giant check. an array of callers? calling upon me? really? i doubt that. because nobody lives up here and nobody knows where i live.
but hey, you never know. i guess.
anyways. okay. now i think that's all.
have a lovely evening.
lovelovelove.
<3
have a good weekend? have a good valentine's day? i sure hope so.

BETTER than a giant check. an array of callers? calling upon me? really? i doubt that. because nobody lives up here and nobody knows where i live.
but hey, you never know. i guess.
anyways. okay. now i think that's all.
have a lovely evening.
lovelovelove.

early bird gets the Jonas
son of a gun - WHY is Kevin Jonas so hilarious?!?! he makes me laugh so hard it's unbelievable.
man i love that show. and it's a GOOD THING i woke up early this morning because i had time to watch THREE NEW EPISODES before work. that's one hour of pure Jonas love.
and there was one episode where Joe sang a lovely song with just a guitar behind him. he has a really nice voice.
so then i decided that Joe and Kevin need to start a solo project without Nick. Joe and Kevin have the best singing voices - it's true. that's the honest truth.
Joe Jonas was in Disney World the other day, and he was at Epcot and he kept posting pictures of him and Demi Lovato "in Italy!" or, "in China!" yeah, i probably enjoyed it too much.
anyways - i could watch Jonas all day long. it makes me laugh so hard. and i really needed a good laugh.
okay, i'm going to be honest with you again.
so far, i have not had a good year. maybe it's 2010 getting back at me because i said how much i hate writing out those numbers. (but, i still hate it. it seems so pretentious.)
but last night i just kept thinking about New Year's Eve, when me and Andrew were on top of the parking garage in Portsmouth, NH and we were saying that 2010 would be the best year ever, and we would be totally awesome and things would be great. and then i got even more sad.
at first i thought i was just having a bad January. and then February started and it was great! not only did i ring in the new month meeting Tony, Mike and Jason of Crash Kings, but it was also my birthday month!!!! and everyone's birthday month should be the greatest month of the year.
and that first week was great. TWO Crash Kings shows!
and then things went to crap again. and now everything is blah again.
and the other night my cheeks were burning because i was crying so hard. and i feel like that's happening a lot. and not like, "oh i'm crying because Grey's Anatomy is so sad!" but like, really upset crying.
my mom is coming up this weekend and i'm really happy about that. and i'm happy i get to be with her on Valentine's Day. because last year on Valentine's Day i was alone in Panera watching everyone else be happy.
ok. i guess i just needed to say those things.
i have to work now. from 3pm to 10pm. and then from 10pm to 8am. the overnights have been pretty quiet. i've been happy about that.
i still really love my flip clock. and i've still really been enjoying being awake in the morning. the past three days i've woken up during the 10am-11am time. and it's not so bad after all.
Crash Kings and Paper Tongues are doing a show with OK GO in Kansas City tomorrow. that should be really exciting for all you Kansas City readers. which, i believe are zero.
here is a picture from when Crash Kings were in Providence at WBRU 95.5:
please notice the Dunkin Donuts bags and huge box of donuts in the background. the most delicious picture. for more than one reason...
yeah, i posted that on the Crash Queens facebook page. no, not ashamed. i love those girls.
ok. 2.48pm. i guess i should put the finishing touches on my outfit to get ready for work.
hope everyone is having a great friday. i'll talk to you all later!!
love. be well.

you get back up and still you fall
i should have known a bad day was coming...
- went to bed at 3am very excited because kara was coming to visit me today!
- woke up at 8:53am to a text message. kara wasn't coming. and then we had a text fight.
- couldn't fall back to sleep.
- got up around 9:35am. suuuuuper early. was in a bad mood.
- then i checked my email and was in a good mood because of a wonderful blog comment i got! a fellow concert junkie was totally supporting my 'Crash King Concert Roadtrip Weekend.' i was so, SO excited to read this.
- just by talking about Crash Kings online i feel like i have met some great people. wonderful fans. and i'm very happy about this.
- then, i decided to find a home for my new flip clock. i cleared off the shelf above the sink, below the window and then dusted it. and then thought, "hm, where can i put all this stuff?"
- and then i remembered i have that cabinet next to the sink that i never use or open because it's full of harmful chemical cleaning supplies that was left here by the previous owners. and i thought, "i could probably move that stuff." and i opened up the cabinet, took out all the bad and moved it under the sink, which is a cabinet i never open at all because it's really gross looking under there.
- once all the bad was out of that cabinet, i scrubbed it clean with plant based cleaners! it's actually a really nice cabinet.
- then Ruby immediately hopped in. i had to coax her out with cat treats.
- and then again with a toy, after she immediately hopped back in.
- and then i moved my cutting boards down there along with my.... what's it called?
KEVIN: The bowl with the holes in it!
JOE: It's called a kah-line-der.
KEVIN: It's a calendar!
NICK: It's a COLANDER!!
oh, it's a colander. thanks, nick.
and then i moved ALL my plant based cleaning supplies under there too! it looks so neat and organized.
- then i moved my clock to the shelf! put some of the stuff back up there. just made it more nice looking.
- i was quite pleased with my kitchen accomplishment of the day. then i made some coffee.
- and then i talked to my dad on the phone! i was happy about this. he's going to start taking a class every wednesday at a local college! it's called, Core Canadian Values:
The core Canadian values are peace, order, good government, and respect for diversity. How are these abstract ideals articulated and honoured when applied to core institutions such as the family, work, health, business, military, the arts, education and the environment? Readings, guest speakers and class discussions will shape how we express our diverse perspectives. Listening with respect is a requirement, but our democracy doesn't expect 100% consensus.
great! i'm really excited for him. he started today!
- then i got sad because he's on the Canadian west coast and i'm here and i miss him.
- then i started getting text messages from Kara that made me think we were no longer fighting. she was telling me she was going to open up a Dunkin Donuts. i said i would support her as long as she hired me as a flatbread sandwich/apple fritter maker and she carried the Dunker's Vanilla Chai in the store. she said yes to both of these things.
- but then i guess we got into a fight again. which left me crying for like, an hour and half.
- then i decided to watch 17 Again because i figured it was nice eye candy, and would take my mind off of everything.
- and i was productive during the movie! i set up a large file folder to start using to file my important things away. i made homemade tab dividers out of teal paper. that was good.
- then my mom called because i had written her an upset email. which caused me to become upset again. but, she's coming up to see me this weekend and i'm really excited about that.
- and now i'm blogging and eating Spree. that yummy candy. i like the flavor of the outside part, but i don't like sour things. but, i'm eating them anyways.
i burnt my tongue yesterday on tea and it still hurts.
OH, what also still hurts is the huge slice i have on my hand from Ruby Tuesday this morning! she was in one of her crazy scary moods and decided to take it out on my hand, as usual.
it was a surprise attack. i was sitting at the kitchen table and she jumped up from the floor, latched onto my leg, i went to push her away, and she sliced my hand instead.
it's a huge scratch from below my middle finder to beyond my pinky finger. on my right hand. it bled a lot. and it still hurts.
i'm tired. i assumed i would take a nap today at some point because i got up so early. but, nope.
and, ya know what? it was actually pleasant to be awake during morning hours. like, between 10am-noon. especially because i got something accomplished.
i can't remember the last time i was happy to be awake so early. and willingly awake! and i feel like i've been awake a whole day! like, morning, afternoon, and now night. it's strange.
maybe i'll go to bed early tonight and do the same thing tomorrow.
i made popcorn today. that was fun.
actually, i might have to get up early either tomorrow or friday. because i have to go to the grocery store before my mom gets here saturday morning. i'm running low on coffee and didn't realize it until today. and i might be working tomorrow night. and i'm definitely working friday night.
okay. i think that's all. that JoBros clip made me really happy. everybody should follow @joejonas on Twitter because it's really funny. and he's always talking about how him and Robert Schwartzman hang out everyday. which, is weird, yet really hott.
oh! i know something else i accomplished today!
i figured out how to tweet photos from my phone and have them show up on twitter! this was something that amazed me, but i couldn't figure out how to do it. this was my fourth attempt. and i got it!!!!!!
i really don't like my phone. it kind of reminds me of Hampshire College's "The Hub" online system. it was really inconvenient and unnecessarily complicated.
oh, speaking of Hanson, here is something else that makes me happy!
wait, i wasn't just talking about Hanson. was i? hold on.
nope. i was talking about the Jonas Brothers, but looking at a picture of Hanson on Twitter. (they just tweeted that they're all having dinner together. and there was a photo.)
which made me think of Tulsa, Oklahoma, where they're from. which made me think of the recent Crash Kings tweet that said, "on our way to Tulsa!" as well as the recent Paper Tongues tweet that said, "we're headed to Tulsa!"
BECAUSE, Crash Kings and Paper Tongues are playing another show together TOMORROW, the 11th, in TULSA.
so, all you Tulsans who read my blog - get out to the show. it will ROCK.
and that's what makes me happy.
anyway. ok, i'm done.
hope you all had a good day. i guess my dad was overall good, but sputtered with bad. that's better than overall bad, sputtered with good.
sputtered? is that the right word? is that even a word at all? spattered? is that the right word?
ah, i don't care.
ok. have a good night. and a good day tomorrow. take care.
with love.
fake a smile and only guarantee that nobody knows the difference...

"if you're lonely you can talk to me"
hey GUESS WHAT?!
Crash Kings posted a video yesterday of them covering a Beatles song. i know - it sounds crazy, right?
WELL. i watched the video and the only thing 'crazy' about it is that it's CRAZY good. like, really good. (duh, what else would you expect from Crash Kings?!)
i tried to post the video right in this blog, but that never seems to work. so, i'll have to give you a link...
Crash Kings cover 'HEY BULLDOG'
i think it rocks. it's actually a music video. like, a real one. the guys are all acting hott and being funny. all while rocking, of course. the best part is when Tony rocks out on the air piano.
great song.
anyways.
i finished the show Tell Me You Love Me this afternoon. so good. and after i finished it i discovered that there is only 1 season! and then it got canceled. i am sad about that and don't really understand why. because, i really liked it. really good characters.
but, i guess the last episode was an okay ending to the series. vague, but hopeful.
tonight i think i'm going to watch New York, I Love You. it's an instant watch on Netflix. and i want to see it.
so, my bathroom feels empty since i turned it into a spa-like retreat. there's no more clutter! i mean, i like it and everything. it just feels bare. but i looooooove the orange bathmat.
i decided i REALLY like orange. it's actually a really great color. and i feel it's underappreciated. at least it has been by me. but not anymore. i will try and integrate more orange into my life. starting with my bathroom accessories and my still-to-be-finished scarf.
i haven't finished the scarf because i decided i don't really like it. it's too stiff, or something. and i think it's too wide. and i wish it was softer. and more delicate looking.
i don't know. i guess i should finish it just to finish it. but i might have to create another one to be fully satisfied.
Ruby is sleeping on top of the cabinets right now. it must be warm up there because of the heater. same reason why she likes to sit in the window.
last night (or maybe it was this morning....) i thought the ceiling in my bedroom was going to cave in. i was laying in bed and then all of a sudden i heard this loud "cracking" sound. like, something was splitting. like, a piece of wood. or a wall, or something. and i thought, "oh crap that can't be good." but then nothing happened. the ceiling hasn't caved in yet. the bed hasn't fallen through the floor yet. so i guess i'm okay for now. but it was weird.
i'm hungry. i think i might eat supper now. it's early. 10:35pm. i feel like usually i don't sit down and have supper until like, 1am. i mean, it's not like i'm doing anything of dire importance. usually either blogging or wasting time. procrastinating supper, that's what i'm doing. because i procrastinate everything in my life. hooray!
i got a thing in the mail the other day from the City Clerk's office. i had no idea what it was. and for some reason i kept thinking, "i hope they're not kicking me out..." like, of the city. can people be kicked out of cities? i don't know. but that's what i was worried about. and then i thought, "or maybe they owe me money!!" and then i got excited because i thought they might be sending me a check!!!! kind of like a, "thanks for being an awesome citizen! here's your reward!!!"
but, i opened it and it was a letter reminding me to register my car this month. BORING. and they were telling me how much money THEY want from ME. definitely not as cool as a 'good citizen reward check.'
$40 to the city
$73 to the NH dept of motor vehicles
CRAP. how much CRAP is that?! i swear it used to cost me like, $70 total to register my car in Maine.
OH! i remember what i wanted to tell you.
there was a scene in Tell Me You Love Me today that took place in a gas station convenience store, and i saw it and thought, "wow, that's awesome." and then i thought about it some more...
how great are gas station convenience stores? they're like, way better than normal stores. i can't quite figure out why. i think it's like, "hey, i'm getting gas, and now i'm going to go get a hot beverage! or a snack!" how fun is that!? and they always have a really odd selection of hot food. like, hot dogs. hamburgers. some have a soup selection.
but isn't going into buy something from a gas station convenience store so much fun?? and if you're with someone else you can be like, "hey, while you're pumping gas, i'm going in to get a snack!" now that's TWO things accomplished! gas and snack time!
it's just so great. and now i want to write a short story that is set in a gas station convenience store.
someone should start a website about convenience stores at gas stations. like, where are the best ones in the country. just how convenient are they? clean bathrooms? extra features such as Dunkin Donuts, Tim Horton's or Subway?
it could be useful. and it would be in the travel section at the bookstore. the perfect roadtrip companion!
oh wait, i said 'website.' well, there could also be one in book form.
i think it's awesome. i want to write it. anybody in? i feel like there should be a group of people doing this. not just one or two.
AWESOME. oh, i love this idea. how fun!?!?!? a group of people, traveling around together in a bus or van, hunting down each awesome gas station convenience store.
i wonder where this fits into my life plan. maybe just before 'security guard for major hollywood studio lot.' (oh yes, mr. scorsese, come right through!)
awesome.
ok. now i think i'm gonna go. eat supper. now it's almost 11pm. Ruby is still sleeping on top of the cabinets.
hey - don't forget to watch that video! Crash Kings cover The Beatles! there's a great shot of Tony's tattoo. you can really see the blue on his hand.
ok. have great days! great WEDNESDAYS!!!!! my second favorite day of the week!!!! (after Ruby Tuesday, of course)
take care. be well.
<3
Crash Kings posted a video yesterday of them covering a Beatles song. i know - it sounds crazy, right?
WELL. i watched the video and the only thing 'crazy' about it is that it's CRAZY good. like, really good. (duh, what else would you expect from Crash Kings?!)
i tried to post the video right in this blog, but that never seems to work. so, i'll have to give you a link...
Crash Kings cover 'HEY BULLDOG'
i think it rocks. it's actually a music video. like, a real one. the guys are all acting hott and being funny. all while rocking, of course. the best part is when Tony rocks out on the air piano.
great song.
anyways.
i finished the show Tell Me You Love Me this afternoon. so good. and after i finished it i discovered that there is only 1 season! and then it got canceled. i am sad about that and don't really understand why. because, i really liked it. really good characters.
but, i guess the last episode was an okay ending to the series. vague, but hopeful.
tonight i think i'm going to watch New York, I Love You. it's an instant watch on Netflix. and i want to see it.
so, my bathroom feels empty since i turned it into a spa-like retreat. there's no more clutter! i mean, i like it and everything. it just feels bare. but i looooooove the orange bathmat.
i decided i REALLY like orange. it's actually a really great color. and i feel it's underappreciated. at least it has been by me. but not anymore. i will try and integrate more orange into my life. starting with my bathroom accessories and my still-to-be-finished scarf.
i haven't finished the scarf because i decided i don't really like it. it's too stiff, or something. and i think it's too wide. and i wish it was softer. and more delicate looking.
i don't know. i guess i should finish it just to finish it. but i might have to create another one to be fully satisfied.

undiscovered
i discovered these things today/recently:
1. the song '50 Ways to Leave Your Lover' by Paul Simon. loves it!
2. that the main guitar riff in 'Superstition' by Stevie Wonder isn't actually a guitar at all!! it's a clavinet! who knew?!
3. i really like the overly dramatic music of Joshua Radin. sorry, but it's true. the song, 'When You Find Me,' aw come on, it's pretty.
off topic but of nonetheless blogworthy:
4. Crash Kings say that if you follow them on Twitter they will guarantee you punch and pie. hey, it sounds like a pretty good deal to me. and they say they'll sort out logistics later. (if i were you, i would do it)
and now i'm stuffy, sneezy, scratchy, and feel like i'm getting sick. i think i'm going to use my Neti Pot in my spa-like bathroom and then go to sleep.
i've been waking up early lately. sunday it was 10:57am and i woke up and thought, "uuugggghhhhh too sunny." and today it was 11:35am.
anyways. ok. i'm going to bed. 1:52am. have great days!

interstate freeway green light GO
OH HI!!!! i didn't see you there.
i know i've been super lame about blogging! i don't know why. it's not like i have anything going on in my life right now. i have some things to tell you about and to keep order, i will make a list. i think this worked well the last time i did it.
1. BUG
2. Buck
3. bathroom
4. sushi and cheese
5. mind crazy
6. CLOCK
ok. for the most part, they might be in that order. but, i'm not promising anything. let's get started, friend:
1. BUG. Remember a few weeks ago when i thought my apartment was going to explode because i thought i smelled a gas leak coming from my oven??? and remember how i kept waking up in the night thinking, "oh good, i'm still alive." but i also thought it might be a stink bug due to the quickness of the horrible smell happening. WELL. i can't believe i kept forgetting to tell you this. BUT. i went into my bedroom one night long after i stopped smelling the horrible smell, and i thought i saw something out of the corner of my eye. so i looked, and what was it!?! A FREAKING STINK BUG. yep. there he was. just sitting on a cord. i have never been so happy to see a stink bug. if it's between dying in a firey explosion or finding a stink bug - i would choose bug. i hope we all would. so, i figured i couldn't squish the bug because then he would start to smell again. so, i got some chemical filled bug killing spray and killed him. sorry all you bug enthusiasts. he had to go. an amazing end to the horrible smell story, no?
2. BUCK. i was talking to my mom on the phone the other day and she said,
MOM: I can't believe that Buck was on that guitar pick!
JULIE: OH MY GOD I KNOW!!!!!!!
MOM: That's so weird!
JULIE: Don't you think it means we're supposed to be married?????
MOM: Well, I don't know about that....
she was even excited. i still can't believe it. BUCK. on the guitar pick. from MIKE. amazing.
3. BATHROOM. i woke up this morning, went online, read an article titled, "Turn Your Bathroom Into A Spa-Like Retreat" and immediately said to myself, "yep. that is what i'm doing today." and i did. i successfully turned my bathroom into a spa-like retreat.
here are the steps i took:
1. bought a set of plastic drawers for $7. turns out they fit perfectly in between my sink and tub.
2. got rid of my pink bathmat with a brown hair dye stain on it and bought an ORANGE bathmat that matches my orange porcelain tub and orange pipes on the ceiling.
3. bought some fake flowers
4. bought a tiny glass jar at a thrift store for $.50
5. came home
6. cleared off my bathroom floor. thoroughly swept. thoroughly mopped. put down the new bathmat and drawers.
7. cleared off/organized my bathroom shelves. putting most of it into the drawers. organized the shelves in my bathroom mirror
8. scrubbed the tub. scrubbed the sink. scrubbed the mirror. scrubbed the shelves.
9. arranged my new fake flowers in an old, glass, spaghetti sauce jar. put them on my nice clean shelf.
10. admired my new spa-like retreat!!!!
that's TEN STEPS!!! in just ten simple steps you too could have your own spa-like retreat. i love it. my bathroom looks probably 95% better than it used to. it's cleaner. more organized. and i think the orange accessories make it semi-hip. the bathroom walls are green. nice, right!? i was very proud of myself for doing this day project.
4. SUSHI AND CHEESE. so, last week all i wanted to eat was melted cheese. it didn't even matter what i was eating with it - as long as there was melted cheese. it was very weird. and i've had this sushi craving for a while now, but now that i've actually eaten sushi twice in the past week, it's in full force. so today, while i was out running my "spa bathroom" errands, i decided to stop at the grocery store to buy some sushi. i couldn't take it anymore! and so, that's what i'm having for supper tonight after i finish this blog. MAN. sushi and melted cheese. sooo freaking good. i haven't tried them together, and i probably won't. and i'll also make sure not to end up with mercury poisoning like Jeremy Piven did...
5. MIND CRAZY. i am going through a crisis right now. i'd like to say it's a minor crisis, but i think that would be downplaying it. it is MAJOR crisis. i think i am losing my mind. i don't know what's happening to me. let me explain:
- remember in my Crash Kings concert review from Providence i posted a link to a video from Providence that wasn't mine, but it was super good?? and i said it was from someone else who had a waaaaay better view? yeah. i don't know if you watched that video - but you really should.
- anyways.
- then i was on the Crash Kings main youtube page reading comments their fans have posted for them, and i noticed there was a comment from the person who posted that totally awesome video. and they were like, "i first saw you with Tally Hall at The Middle East, and then saw you at Great Scott last weekend, and then again in Providence....."
- and i was like, "holy crap, i've been at THREE shows with this person!" because I also first saw them with Tally Hall (although, i was there for Rooney), and then at Great Scott, and then in Providence. weird, right?!
- i posted a youtube comment on that video because i literally couldn't stop watching it. i'm smiling right now just thinking about that video. and then i just said that i had read the comment on their main page and that i was also at those three shows!
- so then she comments back to me all totally excited about the video and the Providence show in general and then she's like, "are you going to the next Boston show?! what about the shows on the 6th and 7th? i'm looking for people to carpool with!"
- so immediately i look at the tour dates and they'll be with JET all those dates in March. Clifton Park, NY on the 6th, Sayerville, NJ on the 7th, and then Boston on the 9th. and so, we're commenting back and forth for a little while and i'm just thinking, "how freaking awesome would it be to go on a roadtrip for a Crash Kings concert weekend?!?!?!?!" it'd be totally awesome, right!?
- BUT THEN, i thought, "holy crap - the Academy Awards are on the 7th." and then i immediately said to myself, "oh, well, you can't go."
- but THEN, i just kept thinking about how much FUN it would be to be at a concert, having met new friends! for a whole weekend! instead of sitting on the couch alone, watching tv.
- i'm feeling so torn about this. i mean, it's probably not even going to work out getting the nights off, because of the baby being due right around then. but could it hurt to ask?
- i guess the mind craziness comes in me thinking that it would be okay to miss the Academy Awards. my SECOND favorite night of the year. i mean, what!?
- but then i also feel like i haven't really been excited about Awards Season this year. i mean, i've hardly seen any of the movies. i hardly know any of the buzz. and i can't explain it! WHY??!?! what's happening to me?!! thinking about getting a tattoo?? thinking about missing the Academy Awards?!?
- i mean, i wouldn't miss them. i would have someone tape them for me so i could watch them at a later date. (how come they never came up with a fancy word for taping things onto VHS tapes?) but, i'm saying i would probably know the outcome before watching the show.
- I DON'T KNOW. talk me through this, friends. it's probably not going to happen because of the baby, and i have to keep reminding myself that.
- UGH but it'd be sooo awesome to go on a crash kings roadtrip weekend!!!!! with new friends!!!!!!! from my online stalking of other Crash Kings fans, it seems that many people have become friends while attending concerts, roadtripping, etc. and i want that too!!!!! how awesome is it to make a new friend? it's awesome. but if it's over Crash Kings it's automatically 100 times awesomer.
- and this is when i have thoughts that my job interferes with my life. and this is when i wished that i didn't work at nighttime and i had weekends off.
- maybe i could convince Crash Kings into doing matinee shows! then i could attend! everything cool and super fun happens at night. UGH.
- but then i think, "well you can't just leave your job because it's also where you live." and then i think, "oh yeah."
- so, i don't know what to do. i mean, i know there will be other times for Crash Kings. but what if they tour in Europe?! what if they become super famous next week and their tickets start costing $60?!!? (i mean, it's a give-in that they will become super famous) and i want NOW.
- yep. it's a crisis. MAJOR.
6. CLOCK. also today in the thrift store i bought A FLIP CLOCK. now, Maria had gotten me a 'rolling flip clock' a while back because i couldn't find one anywhere. and i love that clock. i've used it ever since she got it for me. it's currently sitting on top of my tv! rolling and flipping away! it's great! AND, it has a backlight! which my new one does not have. but this new one is an actual flip clock. where the numbers flip. and it's in super great condition. and i don't know where to put it, but i love it. it's currently in the kitchen. it might stay there. i thought i wanted it in my bedroom, but my outlet situation in my bedroom is quite depressing. anyways - GREAT purchase! $6!!!
(i'm adding a #7)
7. IT'S ONLY TUESDAY. (see what i did? i took a popular Crash Kings song ('it's only wednesday') and changed it so it applies to my cat, Ruby Tuesday, who's name also contains a day of the week!)
i would like to show you her new favorite place, which makes me a nervous wreck:
yes. that is the very top of the cabinets she is on. she has really been trying to get up there ever since she moved in, back in the summer. she will sit on top of the fridge and cry, cry, cry up at those top cabinets. she'll sit on the fridge and do "the paw thing" up at those cabinets - she wants it so bad. and then, one day, she decided to take the leap.
she was so excited. look how close she is to the ceiling!!!!
and then, tonight, just after i started this very blog entry, she was up there, and she got sleepy.....
and she fell asleep. on top of the cabinets. for like, 45 minutes. sleepy tuesday! she's so cute!!!! but i was so nervous she would stretch and roll over and fall off.
don't worry, i coaxed her down with a piece of cheese.
ALRIGHT. we've completed the list and then some. i'm kind of feeling lousy right now. not like, sick lousy. but like, just, eh. eh.
i'm going to go eat my sushi. and i think i'll make rice with that. and watch a movie.
have a great tuesday! a great morning! a great afternoon and night and everything in between!!!!!
i'll talk to you later :)
<3,
J.

<3,
J.
