"that'll do, pig"

just finished watching ZOMBIELAND.

yes. it's true. i finally saw this movie. did i ever really want to see this movie? no, not really. UNTIL that great night, 13 december 2009.

i'm standing in the crowd at The Middle East with Kara. i'm totally being blown away by this band i've never heard of before. they are called Crash Kings. and then, maybe about 3/4 of the way through the set, the lead singer who was wearing this totally mesmerizing red plaid shirt says, "this next song was in a movie called Zombieland."

and as i totally fell in love with, 'It's Only Wednesday,' i knew that i eventually had to see this movie.

and tonight, i did. almost four months after first hearing Crash Kings play.

i was prepared to make a night of Zombieland. i was very nervous about seeing it. and seeing it by myself. i was nervous that i was going to be scared and really grossed out. and that's why i decided to make a night of it.

i had gotten ALL these pizza coupons for a local pizza place in the mail like, last week. and i thought, "what the heck, i'll get a pizza."

and i got a pizza.

it was the first time i have ever ordered a pizza just for myself. i figure i'll just eat it all weekend. so, i call in the order. and then 20 minutes later go and pick it up.

i walk up to the pizza counter and the super handsome bald guy with glasses says to me,

BALD PIZZA GUY WITH GLASSES: Whoa, you've got some wild hair!

NICE. right?!!?!??!! oh, you have no idea how happy this made me. SO HAPPY. especially his choice of the word 'wild' as opposed to say, 'cool' or 'crazy.' or something else. WILD. yep. i'm so wild in fact, that i am ordering a pizza for one, and am going home to watch a zombie movie. WILD.

so now i had my pizza. and i came home and settled in. maybe with an alcoholic beverage. maybe not... and i put in the movie. immediately i had to share some of the pizza with Ruby Tuesday. she kept jumping RIGHT next to me on the couch and reaching her paw onto my plate. she really enjoys melted cheese and crusty things. as anyone who has ever eaten a grilled cheese sandwich around her knows.

(btw, the pizza was ham and pineapple.)

and the movie starts. and it's pretty gross. people are being eaten in the streets. but, it's okay. i can handle it. it's like, so bloody and dirty that you can't even really see what's going on.

and now the movie really starts and that kid is pretty funny. Jesse Eisenberg is his name. he's like Michael Cera but with cuter hair! what else has he been in? i like him.

and the movie is actually really funny. i didn't find it scary at all. and it wasn't even that bad in terms of grossness. i think because i didn't find it scary.

AND - Crash Kings song. for like, three seconds. when they're in the car. right after they leave the Native American store. which, i think was my favorite scene. when everything was in slow motion and they were breaking all the stuff. and Abigail Breslin is running in slow motion wearing that big feathered headdress. i really loved that scene.

the scene with the Crash Kings song was actually a really funny part. it's like, a montage of them driving in the car. talking about all different things. ONE OF THE THINGS = hannah montana.

yep! there's a Hannah Montana reference! it's really funny. i laughed a lot.

AND THEN: they play the song 'Popular' from Wicked!!! like, just after 'It's Only Wednesday.' does it get any more awesome?!!??!

YES. YES IT DOES!!!!!!

why, you ask????

because later on in the movie there is A TITANIC REFERENCE!!!!!

um, why did nobody mention this to me?!?! Crash Kings and Titanic in the same movie??!! oh, it was great. so so great.

overall i really liked the movie. i'm going to rate it four stars.

and now on thursday when i'm seeing Crash Kings for the 7th time in four months, and Tony says, "this next song was in a movie called Zombieland," i'll be able to think back to tonight, and think about how happy and excited i was when that song came on.

the music in the whole movie was actually really good. there was that Band of Horses song in the beginning. or are they Band of Skulls? Horses? Skulls? that slow, pretty song. Horses, i think. but maybe Skulls. i don't know.

and Dave Sardy did a good job on the score, as well. it was very rock. with a tad eerie.

which is how i would describe 'it's only wednesday' as well. there's something about that song that is a touch creepy. do you agree? i love it. LOVE IT. i can't figure out what it's about.

it happens only in the daytime
she looks to me and says,
but it's only in the nighttime.
she pulls me closer to her body
so i can hear

there's a kick and then a scream
but it's only in her dream
i look around and it's you

i can't believe it's only wednesday

ooooo! what?! loves it. and it manages to rock the whole time.

great song. really great song.

ummm. let's see. what else?

i went to the library today. and took out three books:

1. The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion
2. A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers
3. Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris

i'm excited. i can't decide on which one to start first. perhaps i'll read all three of them at the same time. i think it's a good selection.

if it's a nice day out tomorrow, i might take them outside and read in the daycare lawn. BUT i might not. depending on the day. my car was covered in pollen the other afternoon and it was not a happy time. i've been sneezing nonstop and my eyes have been burning. a lot.

hopefully i can get to the post office tomorrow morning. they close at NOONTIME on saturdays. NOT NOON THIRTY like i always think. and then i remember when i get to the post office and there are no cars there.

and other than reading, i have no plans for Saturday.

currently it's 1:31am. i might go to bed soon. i've been trying to go to bed early. i don't know why. i think because i'm so bored, that i try and make myself tired so that i can sleep and it will be a new day. and maybe something exciting will happen on the new day.

it's pathetic, i know.

anyways. i'm going to take me and my wild hair to bed. and probably Ruby too. right now she's sleeping on the couch. but she'll wake up when i get up because she's just passing the time until her second supper. which happens just before i go to bed.

alright! have a great weekend! i'll update you on my Jonas Brothers concert tomorrow. YEAH.

talk to you later!!!!

love!
