EXCITING VIDEO UPDATE!!!!!!!

Yep - I'm lame. Not gonna lie.

I MADE ANOTHER VIDEO BLOG!!!! I just love talking to you all. I hope you like it, too. Or, at least semi-like it.

EXCITING VIDEO UPDATE!!!!!!!

***UPDATE:: J. Edgar was not the President ;) He was the director of the FBI. HERBERT Hoover was the President, obvi.

*SIDE NOTE: At trivia, we usually get all the questions about Presidents wrong.

here's to the night the power went out!

HEY GUYS!!!!

Look! It's a VIDEO BLOG!!! Not one, but TWO. I'm actually pretty embarrassed to post these, haha, because there's really no point to them. It's a lot of awkward silence. I chose good music, though.

PART ONE

PART TWO

Here are links to some of the things I talk about in the videos:

THE LOTTERY, by Shirley Jackson. If you are a fan of The Hunger Games, or a fan of ANYTHING at all - read this. (it's just a short story, folks.)

SPIN ROUND, by The Californian
HERE'S TO THE NIGHT, by Eve 6
RHINESTONE EYES, by Gorillaz
OSCAR WILDE, by Company of Thieves (this video ROCKS.)

HAHA, so pretty awkward, right? Yeah, I know. But, whatevs. Still getting used to it, I guess. And it's super weird looking at the green dot.

Alright. I know I said I would write more about The Hunger Games, but maybe another time.

Bought some cranberry goat cheese today. It's delish.

OK, HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND. Talk to you later!

and i forgot the most important part...

I got this lovely online gift from one of my readers...

Apparently the blog drought really hit hard.

I actually got this via Twitter, and viewed it on my phone, sitting at the Dover police station, crying, right after my car was towed. It actually made me laugh really hard, haha. So, THANK YOU FOR THAT, Steven Demers!!!

AND ALSO, I forgot to tell you something else! I know, I'm such a freaking slacker.

So, last week, me and my friend Ben went out for dinner and then had a SUPER ADVENTURE. It was late, and we decided to venture down to the Hilton Park to watch the tides.

Now, for those of you who aren't residents in this area, you don't know that the bridge in Dover, right next to Hilton Park, is under construction. They are tearing down the old one and building a new one. But don't worry, there's still one up to drive across.

ANYWAYS.

So, we get to the park, and it's right next to all the construction. And, we both know that it's illegal to trespass into construction zones. Especially at night time by the water. But, it seemed like a pretty good idea at the time.

We were wrong.

IT WAS A GREAT IDEA. We totally scaled the rocks and went around the fence, walked into the construction zone, walked UNDER THE HIGHWAY, which was maybe one of the coolest things I've ever done, walked out onto the temporary bridge that holds all the cranes and giant machines and we were like RIGHT out in the middle of the water.

I've provided this map for you:

See Hilton Park? See where the bridge is? See the Rt. 4 sign? We were a little further than that out into the water. We were like, under the highway bridge, but on the temporary bridge, real close to the water. IT WAS AMAZING.

And then we stood directly under the giant cranes. OMG. It was a thrill. Hearing the cars pass above me was something else. Very, VERY cool.

I'm glad we trespassed. Worth it.

I'm pretty good at trespassing.

1. the national historic fort
2. the national historic windmill
3. that lady's house... that was awkward. haha.
4. the bridge under construction!

COOL. Yep, I'm a rebel. Kind of.

Anyways, I had to post that. Hope everyone is still having a good night!

laterz!

take me for an open-minded soldier

HERE IT IS!!! Another blog post! I know, I know... it's been FOREVER. A lot has been going on. I know you're all on the edge of your seat to find out what's been going on in my life... so let's get going.

FIRST! Kara and I took a trip to Providence a few weeks ago! We needed some Davenport's. They are worth the drive, anytime. While we were in Providence, we decided to stop and see some of our favorite sites..

The river! Although Providence isn't a big city, I still think it's a perfect candidate for a WATER TAXI SERVICE, because the river runs right through the city. Like in Chicago. And who better to start a water taxi service than.... ME!!!

We took a lot of pictures of ourselves this day, haha.

Pretty!

After we explored downtown, we drove up to the second level of Providence, and went to the Overlook! Prospect Park! I featured this park on my '20-minute Tour of the City' that I did back in November. It's so pretty here!

THEN! We drove through Wayland Square and over to THE WALL!!! One of my all time favorite attractions of ANY city ANYWHERE.

There. It. Is.

Me and my Wall-colored coat!

Kara and I in front of The Wall. Great place.

After The Wall, we headed over to DAVENPORT'S, which is also a great place.

Kara got a tuna burger. It was delish.

And I got my favorite sandwich in the whole world - chicken salad. I feel like every time I go to Davenport's, they never have the EXACT sandwich that I had the first time I went there. So, every time I need to explain to the waitress or waiter that it's my favorite thing in the whole world and if they could make it even though it's not on the menu - I would greatly appreciate it.

And they always do! And it's always even more delicious than I remember!

YEP - we love it there.

It was a great day. It was a great day in the middle of a WEIRD FREAKING WEEK.

So, the week before was the first week in March, which is notoriously a bad week for me. Last year was the first year that it wasn't a bad week.... but previous years have been pretty rough.

This year's first week in March was only semi-different. Some parts were GREAT, other parts SUCKED.

SUCKY PARTS:
1. hearing that somebody doesn't want to date you.

2. getting rear ended while stopped at a red light. YEP. That sucked a lot. I was stopped at the red light at the intersection of Blackwater Rd and RT. 108 and BAM somebody came slammin' into me. IT WAS SCARY. Immediately I was like, "HOLY CRAP." Then I didn't know what to do. So, I started shaking and crying. Then, I got out of the car. The guy who hit me stopped as well, and ran over to make sure I was okay. Then, we pulled over off the road and made sure our cars were okay. Exchanged information. He gave me a hug, because I was still shaking and crying. I thought that was nice.

Anyways, the damage to my car is $1400. I know, right? I KNOW. Luckily, his insurance is paying for it all, including my rental car while it gets fixed. I need a whole new bumper. MY POOR CAR!! I feel so bad for her.

I was generally fine. Aside from being really shaken up. I had a little headache the whole rest of the night.

3. getting my car towed while parked in downtown Dover. YEP. That sucked, too. Kara and I really wanted to go out for sushi. So, we parked in the lot behind the Brickhouse. The spot had a sign that said something along the lines of "no parking because these spots are reserved.." but Kara convinced me that it only applied during the day. So, we parked and went on our merry way.

Sushi was delish.

Then we got back to the car only to find out that it was not there. GONE. It was also freezing out that night. So, we didn't know what to do. So, we walked over to the police station. Meanwhile, I'm crying. And we talk to the dispatch guy and says, "yep, they just towed a Prius.." blah blah. So, he gives us the number and I call.

While talking to the guy at the towing place, I first thought he was drunk. Then found out later that he had been sleeping. Like, what? It was very confusing.

ANYWAYS, I'm gonna skip all the horrible stuff and get to Scott. Who was the lovely guy who towed my car away, and who eventually let me have it back at the end of the night. What a great guy he was. He had a southern accent, which I appreciated. He seemed kind of clueless. I just really liked him. Nice guy. I wasn't even mad at him for towing my car.

But that didn't stop me from crying the entire night. It was a bad week.

BUT! It was also a good week!

GOOD PARTS:
1. I got a new job!!!!!! At Planned Parenthood!! I had been applying to work for them for about two years, and FINALLY, they noticed me! And I had two interviews! And they both went great, obvi. And then I got the job!!! I was so excited. And I'm in my second week of work and have been learning SO MUCH. And meeting such AWESOME people. And I love it.

And I'm going on a BUSINESS TRIP. To Burlington, VT for more training! It'll be the first two weeks in April, for three nights each. I'm realllyyyy excited. Hotel! Sounds awesome, right? I'm nervous and super excited. I think it'll be a great job for me, working for a great organization.

2. I GOT MY EARS PIERCED. For realz. It happened. IRL. Like, I have pierced ears now. As I'm writing this. It happened on the same day I got rear ended, haha. AND! We got it all on video! Greg came along with a video camera and got it alllll on tape. I haven't seen it yet, but I think it'll be good. Once the video is all ready, you can BE SURE that I'll post it for ya'll. It didn't hurt at all. Just felt like someone was stapling something through my ear lobe. Haha. And, I like it so far! I got little diamond studs. They look pretty good. It was a good change. A good step.

ALL THAT in one week. It was a lot. There was A LOT of crying. For both happy and sad events. It was weird.

SEGMENT: HOTTIES

Julie, Gemma, Brittany! Livin' it up. This was a fun night. We went out dancing in Dover. Great time. We did gummy bear shots. Or, something like that.

So, OTHER THAN THAT, not much has been going on. Haha. I feel like a lot has been going on.

I don't know. It's good, I guess. Right now I'm in a weird mood. But I really wanted to get this blog done.

We'll see. I have no idea what's in the future. But I'm excited for my business vacay.

What's new in your lives?! Tell me everything.

I'll try and update more often, that way you won't get these super long, intensive blog entries.

OK!! Hope everyone is having a great night! Wednesday night.

Phone update yeahhhhh

So, here it is. An update from my phone. I feel like I tried to do this with my old phone, and it never really worked. Like, it would start a new blog post with every word. So it'd be like, "you updated 700 times today.." weird. I hope this works out. I just randomly decided to check the app store to see if they had created a Blogger app yet, because the last time I checked, they hadn't. Who's "they?" Ya know.... "them." where's that from?

Anyways, I got the app, and here's the first post!!! Sorry it's not more exciting! It's almost midnight on a Saturday and I'm already in bed! I'm so lame! Except tonight is daylight savings time and I ALREADY had to get up in the middle of the night to go to work, and now I have to lose an hour of sleep! It's terrible! Nobody should have to work on daylight savings. There should be a law against it. Maybe I'll work on that once I'm president.

I'm going through a stretch of bad luck right now... It's been a weird week. Full of unexpected crying for all kinds of emotions.

Although, it's the first week of March! And that week is known for being a bad week in my life. Last year it wasn't, so I thought the curse was broken. But this year it's back in full swing.

Actually I guess it's the second week of March. We'll just call it, 'early March bad luck."

Anyways. I hope it's over. For your sake. And for the sake of my friends and family to have to repeatedly witness my breakdowns and crying spells.

And with that! I'm going to bed! Glad I posted? I thought you were.

I have A LOT more to tell you, including some good stuff! So, we'll get to that soon! This is going to be a super busy week, but I'll try and get an update in!

I miss you guys! Hope you're having great weekends!

Love ya! Talk soon!!

Rhode Island Takeover - Part 2

Dear Rhode Island,

I don't know if you know this, but you are being taken over. By THESE GIRLS:

Haha. That picture was like freshman year of college, after the alumni concert at Noble. SHOUT OUT TO BEN ELLIOTT IN THE BACKGROUND!!!!!! We're pretty hott.

Also I have no idea why we took that picture. haha.

ANYWAYS!

So, I went to visit Maria again two weekends ago. Ya know, for a girl's weekend. We were planning on sitting around, watching movies, eating junk food and making friendship bracelets..... and that's pretty much exactly what happened.

However! We did have a few adventures in there, too, as always.

I had wanted to check out this lighthouse I had seen on Google Maps, Beavertail Light, out in Jamestown, RI. Maria, of course, was game for anything! So we headed off!

Now, we expected it to be cold. If you remember our azalea garden expedition, you know that we are pros at going into seasonal attractions during the off-season. BUT HOLY CRAP IT WAS FREEZING. Like, you can't move your fingers, your mouth, your nose, your ears freeze off immediately and you can't see because your eyes are watering so badly.

COLD.

But! I made Maria stand around outside anyways, haha. And we got some photos. And I got to stare at a lighthouse... which are some of my favorite things in the whole world.

There was a lighthouse museum as well as an aquarium on-site... both of which were closed, naturally. But they would have been in the extra buildings you see.

LOVES IT! Lighthouses are the greatest.

So - on our way to the lighthouse, we passed some other attractions that we wanted to visit on the way back. Including:

1. a playground
2. a windmill

PLAYGROUND. Ummm... maybe the greatest playground ever built.

It had this tiny, one-person chair swing.

And lots and lots of towers. It was like, castle/ship themed.

We just pretended that we were writing a safety manual on local playgrounds so we wouldn't look too suspicious walking around and taking pictures.

That's me, standing at the bow of the ship part. AWESOME. (cause I'm the Captain, duh..)

AND THEN - came the windmill.

So, we saw this sign on our drive to the lighthouse that said, "now entering Jamestown Historic Windmill District," or something like that. And we said, "wouldn't it be awesome if there was actually a windmill here?!?!?" AND THEN JUST AS WE WERE SAYING THAT, ONE APPEARED IN FRONT OF US!!!!!

We had never seen a windmill IRL before, so it was PRETTY COOL.

I think that one came out pretty good.

The bridge over to fancy Newport.

Yeah, so, if you WANTED to get technical..... TECHNICALLY we were trespassing on the historic site. I mean, the sign said they were closed... and technically we had to jump the rope to get to the windmill... which MAY OR MAY NOT have been on someone's private property...... but... IT WAS WORTH IT! Because that windmill was awesome.

And it's not the first time I have trespassed on someone's private property in order to check out something cool. Or trespassed on a national historic site, for that matter. And, did I mention I have two unpaid parking tickets?? And I'm getting my ears pierced?? Yeah, I mean, what can I say? I'm kind of a rebel.

And from the bridge you cross to get to the lighthouse island there is this tiny, tiny island off to the side with a tiny, tiny lighthouse on it. And I had seen it when I was down there a few years ago. AND I WANT IT! Someone please buy this for me! I think it only costs like, $60,000 or something. Because I looked it up after. (great shot from the moving car, Maria!)

SO! I wanted to update you with those pictures. AND! I have a snow day today!! Yep! The store is closed today!

After I'm done with this, I'm gonna take a shower, and then get to work on my friendship bracelets! Send me those addresses, you winners!! I've gotten two already! Actually, three. And actually, I will probably see the other people. Except for Kerianne :-( Kerianne, did you move into your new house yet?? Do you have the same address?? Kerianne and Noel bought a house!!!!!! In Chicago!!!!! Remember I was in their wedding, too?!?!?! Over in Ireland!!!! Yeahhh that was the best. That trip was totally dave.

Allllllright.... I think that might be it for now.

OH WAIT! I thought of something else. I've had this tab open in my browser for like, three days to remind me to tell you about it. haha. I do this a lot.

SO! I found this place! The Starfield Observatory in Kennebunk, ME and it's part of the Astronomical Society of Northern New England and they hold public STAR PARTIES. It's a monthly observing session in which all are welcome! It's on Friday nights! AND I WANT TO GO TO THE NEXT ONE. How awesome does this sound?!?! A Star Party! love it! So, we should go.

Ok. Now I think that's it. I've updated a lot in the past two days. You guys are lucky ducks.

It's snowing a lot. I like it.

OK! Hope everyone has a great day! Snow day or not. It's March!! No longer MY birthday month, but it is other people's birthday month. So - STILL EXCITING!

Ok. I'm gonna take a shower. You're gonna continue being awesome. And maybe we'll talk later!!!

ENJOY!!
