A WORK BLOG!!!!!
blogging at work. the best time of night.
it's been a good night at work. i took a resident on a wal-mart shopping spree. it was fun, actually. and productive because i was going to have to go out tomorrow to buy Ruby Tuesday more cat food, but now i don't have to because i got it tonight! and got paid for the time it took me to buy the cat food! but, i guess it evens out because i paid for it with my own money. ah well.
but it was very tricky because the van i was driving ran out of windshield washer fluid while we were driving! it was horrible because it was also snowing and slushing very hard. it was lame. so, i also had to buy more washer fluid at wal-mart. and then figure out how to open the hood of the van, which took a minute. or maybe like, 5 minutes.
also in wal-mart, we spent lots of time in the makeup aisle, which ended up being very expensive. i suppose if you're standing in an aisle long enough, you just end up buying what's in front of you, even if you don't need it. like, say we were in the car section. staring at the steering wheel covers. after like, 15 minutes you would probably be like, "yeah, i think i would like one of those! and matching seat covers!" and then you end up spending like, $50 in ugly car accessories.
anyways. that was not the case. we were in the makeup section. so, i ended up with
- 2 new nailpolishes
- new tinted lip gloss
- blush stick
has anyone tried those blush sticks? i have not. it's like, not powder. i don't imagine i will ever figure out how to use it correctly. but i bought it because the color was called 'sparkly peach.' and i read in an article some time ago that the color 'peach' in makeup form, is supposed to make you look fancier. like, it's a good blush for a fancy outing. or something. and ever since i read that, i have been on and off looking for a peachy colored blush.
but i've never found one! and it's hard to find something like that because all makeup is never titled like, "red," "light pink," "darker pink." it's all like, "pink harvest." "rose satin." "moonlight." and it's just like, "what!?" sometimes i think i would like to be a "namer" of things. but then sometimes i just get so annoyed.
and so this was the reason i could never find a shade of peach! because they are always crap metaphors for what the color kind of looks like. so when i saw this blush stick called "sparkly peach" i snatched it up. and hey, the sparkly is just an added bonus!
OK. even though i'm at work, i still manage to keep updated on the outside world. specifically related to Crash Kings.
YOU MUST - i repeat - YOU MUST watch this video of Tony playing the national anthem on the clavinet.
i have watched it twice. it's amazing. it's totally awesome. and he looks super sexy at the end. it's only 1:35 minutes so there's really no reason you shouldn't watch.
it's like a sexilicious version of our great country. and hey! who doesn't love our country's national song? it just makes you want to get up and have a party. watch the vid, please. and be totally jealous that kara and i are seeing them on SUNDAY. and then again on THURSDAY.
anyways. i just ate some cheese with graham crackers. i was not expecting it to be very good. but no, it was delicious. i am pleased to report.
hmm. what else can i tell you?
i'm wearing my red plaid shirt today. it's going really well. i love it and it makes me so happy.
SO, i kind of dislike this cell phone i have. the alarm is very sketch. not sketch. that's not the right word. like, unreliable. but there's a cooler word for it. anyways, it just kind of works when it wants. and the other night i thought, "hm, i wonder if it depends on the battery power."
so, i charged the phone. and the alarm woke me up the next day. great! but then this morning, the alarm worked, but the snooze function (possibly the most important feature of any alarm) did not work.
i had it set for a 10 minute snooze, for up to 10 times.
the alarm went off at 12:21pm. i hit snooze. fell back asleep. woke up at 1:13pm. that's much longer than 10 minutes.
and i don't understand why that is happening. because i even woke up enough to make sure i was hitting 'snooze' and not 'stop.'
and i have my iPod alarm clock which i used to use, until i started listening to lullabies at nighttime. and you can't lullaby and alarm clock at the same time.
(i have this super pretty and very sweet lullaby version of Ruby Tuesday that i love.)
so i don't know. and we all know how important an external alarm clock is in my life, because i have no internal one. like, NO internal one.
but i was able to go to sleep at 3am this morning, which was good.
OH! i told you i bought 2 new nailpolishes, but then i never told you what they were!!!! geeze, sorry. you all must have been on pins and needles.
1. West Village. this color is navy blue. for a while now i have been looking for an unshimmery navy blue polish. and tonight i found one! man, this was the night of finding the right colors. i am very excited about this. and i guess navy blue is the color of the west village?
2. Steel Her Heart. get it? steel her heart? yeah. it's the color of steel. the other night i bought a polish called 'gunmetal,' which i thought would be perf. but, while wearing it, i notice that sometimes it looks blue-ish. like, blue-grey. so when i saw Steel Her Heart, i figured i had to try it. worst case scenerio: i have two metal shades of nail polish!
hm, ok. it's currently 8:55pm. man, i never blog this early!
i've already started my logging. in the staff log.
what else can i tell you about?
did you watch the clav video yet? remember how i told you awhile ago that the clav that Tony plays was one of 100 in the world? yeah, i was wrong. it's one of 12. 12!!!!! isn't that exciting? that's another thing i learned from the vulgar radio interview i listened to with the band. apparently there were 20 clavinets made with this special "whammy bar." 10 were made in Ohio, and 10 were made in Hollywood. but 8 of them were crappy and didn't work out. so, now there are only 12 in the whole world. and one belongs to Tony of the Crash Kings. i think that's pretty cool. you should really watch the video if you've never seen a clav in action. it's very cool.
OK. i guess i should finish up my real work.
sometimes, i'll be sitting here at the desk, doing real work and i'll think, "this is so weird. that i have a real job. and i'm doing real work that actually means something." i think that a lot. i especially think that when i'm writing in the staff log, or filling out the daily charts for the residents. it's like, "really? i have a job? whoa."
anybody else feel like that with their job? it's weird working. i don't really like it. i mean, i like this job. but i don't really like working. i kind of wish i had lots and lots of family money and didn't have to work. i could just leave the house whenever i wanted. at whatever time of day i wanted. i could go see a late movie. i could take a vacation for however long i wanted, because my whole life would pretty much be a vacation. i could probably afford cable.
well, alright. i think i should get back to the real world. finish up work so i can go home. "home."
maybe talk to you later. have a great night!
no plans tomorrow. clean the apartment. pack for the weekend. go to the post office.
alright! take care. be well.
