the time

i have not been waking up to my alarms recently.  now, i know you are probably thinking the exact same thing that kara said when i told her this.  she said,

KARA:  Julie?  Not waking up to her alarms!?  What!?!?!

she was being sarcastic.  but, normally i am good about getting up to alarms, it just takes me like, an hour of hitting snooze.

but lately, i haven't even been hearing them go off.  like this morning.  my alarm was set for 7:43.  and, i had my alarm song all set to go.  and i didn't wake up until the very end of the song.  and it was soooo loud.

this weekend while i was home, i had a really hard time waking up to my alarm.  and it ended up that on saturday morning my mom woke me up and on sunday morning Ruby Tuesday woke me up.

ugh.  who invented alarms?

wow.  there is much debate over who invented the first alarm clock.  who knew?!?  most people say that it was our own Levi Hutchins from Concord, New Hampshire.  his alarm clock that he invented went off at 4am everyday to wake him up for work.  he was a clock maker.

i wonder why he had to get up so early?  if you're a clock maker, can't you somehow convince people that it's later or earlier in the day if you want?  so, instead of Levi getting up at 4am, let him sleep in however late he wants, but then he'll convince people that it's way earlier by setting all his clocks back!  a trick!

i guess there is one big clock you can't trick and that is the sky.  people would probably start to wonder after a few days of Levi's trickery.  or, not Levi's trickery, but Julie's trickery.  i would like to control those things.  like time.

i like to have a lot of clocks around.  which is strange, because i am usually late for things.  why be early when you can be late?  that's what i like to say.

ugh, know what i hate even more than alarms?  deadlines.  kind of on the same horrible idea that, something has to be done.  or, you have to wake up.  like this online class that i am taking (but haven't started yet...), i wish it didn't have deadlines.  i can't do that.

like my senior project in high school.  i forfeited getting the 'distinguished' grade because i wanted to make my own deadlines.  and that was not part of the deal.

i wish that everything could be like Div 3, basically.  do whatever you want, whenever you want.
anyways.  i'm at work now.  that's why i'm awake.  working 8-9am.  monday, tuesday, thursdays from now on.  it's been really quiet.  both of the residents are at their respective internships.  and, no staff members come in this early!  that would be crazy.

there is something that i have been wanting to talk about and i think i'll do it now.  it's very important and i was waiting for just the right time.  crucial information.

i wanted to talk about the HBO dvds.  has anybody ever rented a HBO dvd???  say, the John Adams movie?  the Sopranos?  Angels in America?  Entourage?  (i really enjoy the HBO original movies and i would encourage that everyone watch them.  or, rent something from HBO so you know what i'm talking about.)

BUT.  there are these incredible montages at the beginning of the dvds that advertise either their other HBO movies or tv shows, whichever you happen to be renting.  and the montages are just tiny clips put together in dramatic form so it makes you want to rent the movie, or start a new tv show.

the movie montage is usually set to a hauntingly beautiful piece of orchestration while the tv montage is usually set to a catchy Tracy Chapman song.  they are great.  i enjoy them so much.  some of them give me chills.  oh, they are great montages.  does anybody know what i'm talking about or do i just sound crazy??  they're awesome!  i love these montages.

if there was an Emmy for Best Montage, the HBO montage making department would get it.  for sure.  it would probably be a technical emmy given out on the night that they don't show on tv.

or would it be a Golden Globe?  hm.  i guess technically HBO is a tv station.  but, they have movies too.  Best Made for TV Montage.  hm.  i think Emmy.  but, hands down, the HBO montage guy.  YOU ROCK.

alright.  it's time for me to go now.  9am.  nothing happened.  except me being awake for an hour.  back to sleep.

have a great day!  i'll talk to you a bit later.  it's monday!  anything can happen!!
