down in a second

i downloaded two really old Phantom Planet songs tonight. 'So I Fall Again' and 'Down in a Second.' man. really good songs. they're like, totally catchy. i love it! and it's really old. like, from 1998, i think. when it was alex, darren, jason, jacques, and sam. nice.

anyways. yeah, crazy night at work. it's currently 2:22am. i told myself i'd be in bed tonight by 2am. yeah. and i still have a lot to do before i go to bed. and i'm not doing any of it and blogging instead! great!

so, it was up to the staff (me and courtney and jamie) to take care of the two little girls tonight. they were both in pretty good moods. except when we needed to get out of the bath. jamie had the little one and i had the toddler. and she DID NOT want to get out of the bath, because she wanted to stay and play with her ducks.

and she kept rearranging them in different orders and putting them in different spots in the bath. and so finally i said,

JULIE: You know, the duckies are tired too. They need to go to bed.

TODDLER: NOOO!

JULIE: They're sleepy duckies and they need to put on their pajamas just like you do.

TODDLER: NOOOO!

so, finally i just picked her up and started drying her off to get her pajamas on. and she was just screaming, "NOO NOOO NOOO NOO NO NO NO NOO!!!!"

crazy times. i also can't tell you how many "phone conversations" i had with Elmo tonight. probably like, 20. and making lots of funny noises.

man. hang out with some babies and you do things you never thought you'd be doing.

anyways. so, today is friday. 2:28am. at 8am i am hopefully leaving to drive to maine. but probably 8:30am. that's not a very long time from now.

and then i'll hopefully be home by 11am. and then kara and i are meeting pops for coffee, etc, in portsmouth at noon. i'm hoping there will be no traffic. or bad weather.

oh! i got a new pair of shoes in the mail today. it wasn't a surprise. i ordered them. it wasn't like a free sample or anything. they are the shoes that i posted a picture of a few entries back. the Clarks. wallabee style. yeah, they came today. and the ruggedly handsome post office guy gave them to me. that was great.

but these shoes!!! holy man. i love them. it is the weirdest experience walking in them. it's like you're walking, but you're not walking. it's so crazy. they are SO comfortable. and totally hip! i love them. i felt like, a million times cooler wearing them tonight.

although, the talking on the phone with Elmo part probably cancels out the coolness of the shoes. so, i guess i was just normal tonight.

i opened the window above my sink tonight. that leads into the bathroom. so the heat can get back to my bedroom. it's FREEZING in here. i walked into the apartment tonight and there was a breeze. i'm TOTALLY SERIOUS. a breeze. from the drafty windows. like, i was standing in the middle of the living room, and i could feel the breeze.

it was insane. and i turned up the heat. even Ruby Tuesday was cold. so, i hope my bedroom is a little warm tonight. it's freezing in my kitchen. and there's a breeze on my feet and hands right now. and it's also scary because all the window panes shake like mad when there's wind outside. it even woke me up this morning because it was so loud. they shake and rattle and go crazy.

old house. really old house.

anyways. i guess i should really go to bed. or, at least start doing some of the things i need to do before i can go to bed. they are little things. like, throw stuff away. empty the clean dishes from the sink. make the apartment look cleaner, without actually doing any cleaning. the norm.

i'm excited because i downloaded four new songs tonight. i already told you about the Phantom Planet ones, but there are more!

both great songs!!!! the second one was originally by someone else. Guided Voices, or something. i can't think of it right now. but, i liked this version better.

so i have four new songs to listen to on my very boring drive home.

ok. probably for real now. i should go. wow. it's really cold.

ok. i'll talk to you from maine. sometime this weekend. most likely late at night in my bed when everyone else is asleep.

i started watching Party Down on netflix. just like i said i would! it's super funny. i like it a lot.

i have not yet listened to any Julian Casablancas. but that is next on my list. anyone else listen to him? recommend any songs? anyone?

JULIE! go to bed. UGH. man. i did not sleep well at all last night WHY am i not really really tired?!??!

i went to bed at 4:30am. was awake from 6:30 to 8am. back to sleep, randomly waking up. and then up for good around noon.

ok. i have to really force myself. uugghhhhh. i don't want to. i just want to sit at my Mac all night long. and talk to you.

i made myself a goal the other night.

goal: to write one creative thing a day.

whether it be, a sentence. a song lyric. a short story. a character profile. ANYTHING. just something that could lead to something bigger. something creative.

although, you have to be pretty creative when working with babies.

ok. FOR REALZ. i'm saying goodnight now. i hope you all have a wonderful friday. it's weird that it's friday. this week went by in a weird way.
