slick rick james brown

oh hi!!!! i didn't see you there.

i know i just recently used that opening, but it's my favorite and it's my blog and i wanted to use it again.

oh hey, guess what?!

i'm on my MAC right now! yes, it's true. i have it. i'm typing on it. i love it. it came yesterday after the driveway was all plowed. and it was wonderful. the fed ex person delivered it to the upstairs staff office, so i wasn't actually there to receive it, but i immediately got the call saying, "julie, you have a present waiting for you!" it was a very exciting time in my life.

and i immediately opened it. and there it was, in all it's glory. the beautiful thing called Mac.

and it's seriously beautiful. it's all silver and shiny. and glowing. like a spaceship.

and i love the backlit keyboard. and i love the keyboard in general.

and the whole thing is like, half the thickness of my old laptop, which, sitting next to the mac looks like the first laptop ever made.

MAN. i had them both on last night and i was like, "i seriously put up with this for five and a half years?"

i get used to fancy things real quickly.

and when i first turned on the new mac, it played this little exciting movie like i was flying through space. it was awesome.

and i think i got all my music off the old one. which was the thing i was most worried about. and then i had to go through the stressful process of "deauthorizing" the old computer from itunes. so, it can no longer place things i have purchased through the itunes store.

i wouldn't have had to do this, but i registered the new one and it said, "sorry, you've already authorized five out of five computers to play this song! you must deauthorize one."

and the song was West Coast!!! so, i HAD to figure out what to do. and i needed to deauthorize a bunch of computers. so, i basically just went into itunes and said, "deauthorize all." so, if your computer was one of the ones i authorized, i'm sorry. especially if it was West Coast.

(which, i confirmed yesterday is my favorite song of all time. i was so bored yesterday afternoon because i still didn't have the computer, so i was lying on my bed listening to West Coast and watching the snow fall, and i was listening to the song and then i said, "yep, this is my favorite song of all time.")

(and, if you go through allll the playlists i've made in the past 3 years, you'll find West Coast on many of them. probably like, 75%.)

anyways. new computer = rocks. julie = very happy.

dear old computer,

i remember the day i got you. how excited i was! even though you had a tiny hard drive, even though you died on me and i almost lost everything, even though i had to upgrade the memory, even though i couldn't leave you unplugged for more than 10 minutes, even though i can't use the cd-rom/dvd player, even though the screen is falling off, i have no sound, and a million viruses, you were a good computer. i wrote my div 3 on you. i watched lots of movies on you. i started my livejournal and blog on you.

and i don't know if i ever formally apologized for this, but i'm sorry i dropped you off my bed that one time. it was a long fall, and i thought i was going to lose the paper i was writing. but no. you may have crashed to the floor, but you did not crash entirely. that was nice.

and so, old computer, now we part. yes, i am still going to try and get the rest of my files off of you, but, let this be our formal goodbye.

goodbye, old friend. and thank you.

love, julie

and now i must depart for work! i have a feeling tonight at work is going to be super stressful and busy!!!! lucky me.

but YES lucky me! because i have such fancy things waiting me to return. i can't wait to talk to you more. i feel like we haven't gotten in proper blog time since my laptop became ill. phone blogging is just not the same. i hope you agree.

have a great night!!! i'll talk to you later.
