WOW! just got inside after a great hour of stargazing!!!!
the conditions were not ideal for stargazing, because the moon was almost full (or maybe it was full), so it was pretty bright.
BUT LISTEN TO THIS. it was the most incredible experience. so, i go outside at exactly 12:59am. i don't actually lie down to stargaze until 1:19am. i tried to have a mini-photoshoot, but my camera battery kept dying. i'll charge it and have one tomorrow, don't worry - there will be photo-documentation.
SO, i lie down, and i'm just enjoying the night sounds for a while. i'm not seeing anything. then, a large patch of clouds comes in. they breeze by pretty quickly. and then it's like a giant curtain being lifted on the sky. it was like i was watching a performance.
so i said to myself, "okay, now the show is starting." so, i put on my headphones and pressed play. the song i had been listening to last was Jesus, Etc (the live version from Funny People i was telling you about), so i started it from the beginning, and lay my head back.
AND THEN. and then! the lyric is this, "you were right about the stars, each one is a setting sun" and just as he's singing, "each one is a setting sun" i see a glorious shooting star sail across the sky. it lasted through the whole lyric! it was so, so beautiful.
it was like someone was setting my life to music. and it was funny, because just today i was looking at the pictures i have from the Oscar Wilde monument and i have the picture of the quote that says, "you have set yourself to music." and it was just perfect.
and then during the same Wilco song, i saw ANOTHER shooting star! this was lasted for like, two seconds, but it was a bright burst of silver in the sky. it made me gasp. (i can't remember what the lyric was for that one.) and it was so bright that i actually whispered my wish quietly, instead of just thinking it in my head. i don't know if that's allowed, but it seemed more powerful.
oh, it was a wonderful night to watch the stars. i just enjoyed it so much. night is just so much better than day. it was pretty chilly, though. tomorrow night i'll have to bring more blankets.
next wednesday, 12 august, are the Perseids Meteor Shower. i might see this week in staff meeting if me and our resident can get permission to stay up late and watch them.
anyways. so my first night of stargazing was great. i had the perfect stargazing soundtrack. tomorrow night i'll have to remember to bring out some tissues. i kept sneezing, which kind of ruined the mood. i momentarily forgot that i am allergic to things outdoors and indoors.
BUT THEN! so, i get really excited because 'I Am Waiting' by The Rolling Stone comes on my playlist, and i've been listening to that song a lot lately. and so i am even more happy. and then, i see something white out of the corner of my right eye. so, i turn my head to look, and it's a skunk!!
A SKUNKERS MCGEE IS RIGHT NEXT TO ME!!!!!! and so i sit up really fast and then immediately think, "crap, i should stay still." and then the skunkers looks like it gets startled for a minute and then i start freaking out, thinking that i'm going to be sprayed. and then i think, "oh god, what if i've already been sprayed?!?!" because, i can never smell skunks because of my bad sense of smell. but then i think, "well, if i've been sprayed by a skunk, i'm assuming that i would smell it pretty strong."
so then the skunk just turns around and climbs down into a hole under the house.
but then i gathered all my stuff together and cautiously ended my stargazing session.
i've never been that close to a skunk before. and i kept sniffing the air to see if i could smell anything. but, no. and i still can't smell anything. so, i'm assuming that i didn't get sprayed. Ruby Tuesday didn't smell anything funny when i came back in. so, we're all good.
but, even without the skunkers encounter, it was a great night.
and i decided that i will photodocument myself completing all those tasks i would like to have accomplished this weekend. then it won't feel like i'm doing them alone.
and while i was outside tonight, i was thinking, "why do i hate the outdoors so much? it's so great!" but, i really think it's just the daylight i dislike. i really think i am a nocturnal creature. me and Edward Cullen are meant for each other.
actually, i probably wouldn't ever marry a vampire. there's too much negative connotations associated with them. people kind of get freaked out when you talk about vampires. much like if you said you were married to a terrorist. or, Lord Voldemort. the reactions, i imagine, would all be similar. "WHAT?! you're married to Lord Voldemort?!?!" or, "WHAT?!? you're married to a terrorist!?!?"
so, i watched V for Vendetta tonight. it was good. i got teary eyed at the part where her head is being shaved. and then i said, "geeze julie COME ON." and then realized that it was just hair.
and i made a ham, pineapple and goat cheese calzone for supper tonight. Ruby Tuesday enjoyed some ham and goat cheese. i offered her the pineapple, but she didn't seem interested. then she licked the pizza sauce from the plate. it was a delicious calzone.
but the best calzone i've ever had was at that place in Brattleboro, Vermont. i can't remember what the name of the place was, but i think i would know how to get back there. hot damn they had the best calzone. i went there after a court date with a resident.
also, i think i forgot to tell you this when it happened. but, that day when i was in brattleboro, on the main street downtown there is a Turn It Up! record store. just like the one in northhampton!!!!! and we passed it, and i immediately thought about Gary. the guy who used to come into the airport lounge and work/sleep. did i tell you that when it happened? i can't remember.
so yesterday, i was reading JustJared.com and there was a story about Michael Cera and that girl from his new movie and whatever. and there was a rumor that they had broken up, or something, and she made a statement that went, "i didn't even know that Michael and i were dating! he's in canada right now filming a movie called Scott Pilgrim!"
and i said to myself, "Scott Pilgrim?? where have i recently seen that name?!?!" and so i thought very hard about it. and then i remembered!! it was last week sometime when i was on youtube watching Rooney blog videos. (which are really funny and you should all watch them.) and there was a link to a video of Robert Schwartzman reading lines for some movie. and the movie was Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. and there are like, three different clips of him reading a bunch of lines. it's pretty funny. and his mom, Talia Shire, is off camera reading the other part.
and so i'm like, "Robert Schwartzman is going to be in a movie with Michael Cera?? that is semi-weird since he hasn't been in a movie since The Princess Diaries."
so, i go to the IMDB page for it and then get even more confused when Robert's name is totally not listed in the credits, but Jason's name is. so, it's a movie with Jason Schwartzman and Michael Cera. and not Robert.
but! if you're looking for a new movie with Robert, then you're in luck. because he told me the other day (via twitter) that he had just finished filming a scene in the new Sofia Coppola movie, Somewhere. which i also want to say stars Benicio Del Toro. but, that might be wrong. they've been talking about him on Entourage and i might be getting it confused.
actually, maybe he told me via a myspace blog. not twitter. hm, now i can't remember. i'm just in contact with so many celebs these days, i can't keep track of them all.
i read Emily's blog for a long time today. i hadn't read it in quite a while. it made me miss her and David a lot. they've had so many great adventures recently! it was impressive and very entertaining. AND THEN! i checked my email tonight and Emily had sent out an email!!!! proposing a reunion for nearby MOD 61 residents. i was very excited to receive it. i haven't emailed back yet. but i will.
hm. i'm getting tired. it's that time of night. almost 3:30am. that's usually when i get tired.
not sure what the plan is for tomorrow. maybe read my book. maybe find a hill. maybe read the book on top of a hill?!?!!?!? that would be completing two tasks with one stone!!!!! what? i don't think that expression worked.
i just checked facebook and Aliya's brother Sam posted the video of 'Bet On It' from High School Musical 2, and it gave me such a good laugh that i wanted to post the link for you all to see. troy just has it so hard. nobody understands him.
AND WITH THAT, i think i am off to bed. one minute past 3:30 in the am. more exciting adventures to look forward to tomorrow.
but for now! sleep.
goodnight all. have a wonderful friday. hott plans for the weekend?!
